KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:<\/p>\n
\tInitiate and cover stories as assigned or commissioned in\u00a0at least two languages.
\n\tProvide quality scripts and clear voice-overs, including on-air broadcasts.
\n\tInvestigate and break stories and follow them through to final product before broadcast.
\n\tMaintain special focus areas (such as crime etc).
\n\tGive informative and well-researched input to live Radio Current Affairs and TV News programmes and debates, package stories for News and Current Affairs programmes and do live crossings into News Bulletins.
\n\tCheck facts, accuracy and quality of stories.
\n\tSet up interviews and lead discussions for broadcast, including crossovers.
\n\tMeet story deadlines.
\n\tKeep abreast of news events \/ developments.
\n\tObtain broadcast quality audio-visuals using relevant recording equipment.
\n\tAdhere to South Africa\u2019s Constitution, all broadcasting and other legislation, ICASA\u2019s licence conditions and regulations, the BCCSA and Press Council codes of conduct, including rulings, the SABC Editorial Policies, News and Current Affairs style-guide and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) etc.<\/p>\n
REQUIREMENTS:<\/p>\n
\tNational Diploma \/ Degree in Journalism or Media Studies or equivalent qualification (NQF 6 \/ 7)
\n\t5 years\u2019 experience in general News and Current Affairs reporting
\n\tUnderstand legislation and regulations impacting broadcasting
\n\tSound understanding of current trends in the social, economic and political environment
\n\tComputer literacy
\n\tAbility to interact and manage different role-players \/ stakeholders at various levels
\n\tUnderstanding and professional use of multi-media platforms
\n\tExcellent command of both written and spoken language of Radio and TV News and Current Affairs to optimise the impact of editorial content
\n\tAdvanced knowledge and understanding of News and Current Affairs production processes and systems
\n\tJournalistic and editorial acumen
\n\tGood, \u201csound\u201d knowledge of and interest in Radio and TV broadcast developments, trends and technologies, including the media industry<\/p>\n
