The responsibilities of a Service Manager include the following tasks:<\/p>\n
\tDrive the achievement of productivity, efficiency, and customer service level index goals and objectives.
\n\tManage a profitable workshop against budget, including analyzing workshop performance data e.g. productivity of technical staff, labour rates, the efficiency of the workshop, expense monitoring, and control, etc.
\n\tManage escalated workshop (technical) problems accordingly, including:
\n\tEscalation of technical\/product-related issues to BMW SA.
\n\tEnsuring continuous support and guidance to technical staff throughout technical problem-solving stages.
\n\tEnsuring future corrective action plans to address various technical problems are implemented.
\n\tEnsure accurate workshop capacity planning according to productive and available staff is done.
\n\tControl (WIP) work in progress on all vehicles in the workshop daily to maintain an acceptable level and manage end-to-end throughput, maintaining awareness of the status of all vehicles.
\n\tAchieve industry-leading standards of customer care, process efficiency, and cost control.
\n\tExceed all targets and labour sales objectives through efficient workshop operations management.
\n\tEnsure efficient equipment and asset control, and administration processes.
\n\tEnsure the highest level of customer satisfaction, service level achievement, and customer retention.
\n\tResponsible for the annual budget of the Service Department.
\n\tManage risk (financial and non\u2013financial) within the department.
\n\tEnsure compliance with OEM and business policies and processes, as well as adherence to relevant workshop operating procedures and practices.
\n\tMaintain good housekeeping within the department, including ensuring compliance with BMW SA\u2019s CI guidelines within the department.
\n\tManage and improve environmental, health, and safety standards.
\n\tConduct departmental meetings and general aftersales meetings to ensure effective communication.
\n\tManage the training of all service staff.
\n\tLead, manage, attract, retain, appraise and develop staff.<\/p>\n
Minimum Qualifications and Experience needed:<\/p>\n
\tSenior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent NQF 4 qualification.
\n\t5+years\u2019 Experience as a Service Manager
\n\tRecognised Management Diploma or Certificate \u2013 an advantage.
\n\tQualified Motor Technician \u2013 Mandatory.<\/p>\n
Other:<\/p>\n
\tValid, unendorsed driver\u2019s license and the ability to competently and legitimately drive.
\n\tComputer literate
\n\tAn effective understanding of financial principles, including budgeting and forecasting.
\n\tAn effective understanding of relevant technology and systems.
\n\tAn effective understanding of the Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety Acts<\/p>\n
