Detailed description<\/p>\n
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:<\/p>\n
\tCoordinate and conduct environmental inspections to ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation, regulations, bylaws and approved permits\/licences at various SARB facilities and projects.
\n\tPrepare and implement safety, health, environmental and quality (SHEQ) specifications for the SARB projects and services.
\n\tIdentify areas of improvement to reduce waste, improve sustainability and ensure legal compliance.\u00a0
\n\tConduct compliance risk assessments for all applicable environmental legislation and regulations.
\n\tIdentify and provide necessary environmental training and awareness for the SARB employees and other identified stakeholders.
\n\tImplement the environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001:2015, focusing specifically on the identification of significant environmental aspects and impacts for the various SARB operations.
\n\tDevelop, implement and maintain environmental templates for contractor management.
\n\tConduct contractor\/service provider evaluations in line with issued specifications and coordinate on site contractor environmental activities.
\n\tDevelop, maintain and update environmental, legal and other requirements matrix.
\n\tEngage with key internal stakeholders and ensure that reporting requirements and timeframes are met.
\n\tCompile environmental progress updates in various divisional reports, where required.
\n\tManage environmental incidents in line with the environmental incident management procedure.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Job requirements<\/p>\n
To be considered for this position, candidates must have:<\/p>\n
\ta Diploma (NQF6) in Environmental Science or Management;
\n\tcertificate in ISO 14001:2015 courses (e.g. Requirements\/ Implementation\/ Internal Auditor) will be essential;
\n\tcertificates on environmental legislation courses; and
\n\tthree to five years\u2019 experience in the environmental management profession, of which at least one to two years\u2019 experience should be in the implementation\/ maintenance of environmental management systems.<\/p>\n
Additional requirements include:<\/p>\n
\tindustry, organisational and business awareness knowledge and skill;
\n\textensive knowledge of the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 and associated regulations;
\n\tauditing and continuous improvements framework knowledge and skills;
\n\tISO14000: Environmental Management System knowledge and skills;
\n\tbusiness contingency planning knowledge and skills;
\n\tgovernance legislation risk and compliance knowledge and skills;
\n\temergency or disaster management\/recovery knowledge and skills;
\n\tfood safety legislation knowledge and skills;
\n\taccident and Incident Investigation knowledge and skills;
\n\teffective communication skills;
\n\tdrive for results;
\n\tanalytical and problem-solving skills; and
\n\tservice and stakeholder focus.<\/p>\n
