Key Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tPerform daily checks and regular inspections of critical equipment, including refrigeration units, electrical systems, mobile racking, other racking systems, and general facility infrastructure to identify potential issues and ensure systems are functioning at optimal levels.
\n\tPerform routine inspections and maintenance on refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and cooling tunnels.
\n\tConduct temperature probe calibrations to ensure accuracy and compliance with operational standards.
\n\tTroubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical faults on facility equipment, including conveyor systems, forklifts, and cooling systems.
\n\tConduct preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, and general facility infrastructure.
\n\tEnsure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, including HACCP, ISO9001, and food safety requirements.
\n\tMaintain accurate maintenance records and report any major faults to the Maintenance Manager.
\n\tAssist in emergency breakdown repairs to minimize downtime in operations.
\n\tWork closely with the Operations team to ensure that maintenance activities do not disrupt critical workflows.
\n\tSupport the Maintenance Manager in planning and executing major equipment overhauls and facility upgrades.
\n\tMonitor and manage stock levels of maintenance supplies and spare parts.
\n\tAdhere to all health and safety policies and participate in safety training programs.<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Experience:<\/p>\n
Education:<\/p>\n
\tDiploma or trade certifications CO2 refrigeration systems.
\n\tSAQCC gas handling license (Cat. A) \u2013 CO2<\/p>\n
Experience:<\/p>\n
\tMinimum of 2-5 years of experience in a refrigeration technician role, ideally in a cold storage, food production, or warehouse environment.
\n\tProven experience in large-scale mechanical and electrical systems, including refrigeration and HVAC.
\n\tIn-depth knowledge of facility maintenance, repair, and diagnostic techniques.<\/p>\n
Technical Skills:<\/p>\n
\tStrong knowledge of refrigeration systems and components.
\n\tExperience with electrical systems, including troubleshooting and wiring.
\n\tFamiliarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), PLCs, and mechanical equipment.
\n\tWelding and fabrication experience is an advantage.<\/p>\n
Beneficial Qualifications:<\/p>\n
\tRefrigeration Technician Certification relating to CO2 plants
\n\tExperience with Danfoss refrigeration controls
\n\tElectrical Systems
\n\tSafety Certifications (e.g., OHSAS, First Aid\/CPR)<\/p>\n
Other Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tAbility to work under pressure and respond to emergency breakdowns.
\n\tStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
\n\tWillingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and after-hours call-outs when required.
\n\tValid driver\u2019s license (preferred).<\/p>\n
Working Conditions:<\/p>\n
\tThe role requires working in a cold storage environment and often at heights up to 10m.
\n\tWork in high-risk areas with moving machinery and electrical components.
\n\tPhysical demands, including lifting, bending, and working at heights.
\n\tSome flexibility in working hours may be needed to accommodate emergency repairs or project deadlines.<\/p>\n
