THE PURPOSE OF THE ARTISAN WELDER ROLE IS TO:<\/p>\n
\tFabricate and repair steel components, sub-assemblies and carbody shells as per specified work procedure, work instruction and Engineering drawings to meet the defined production schedules and quality levels. Require to use various welding techniques.<\/p>\n
THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITY WILL BE:<\/p>\n
\tEnsure and comply with safety standards guidelines, policies and procedures
\n\tTo conduct quality self-inspection of own work before shipping to next station.
\n\tMaintain 5S condition of the working zone \/ Housekeeping.
\n\tWelding locomotive components as per welding procedure
\n\tOperating hand and power tools
\n\tPreparing and setting-up of necessary tools and equipment for welding jobs.
\n\tIdentify welding defects and repair
\n\tGouging
\n\tExercise skills and knowledge of welding trade qualification
\n\tCorrectly instruct, and transfer skills to any apprentice and semi-skilled worked assigned to you to ensure safety and quality of work
\n\tDrive cost improvement initiatives through continuous improvement.
\n\tMaintain equipment standards (through First level maintenance schedules).
\n\tIdentify and report any secondary damages.
\n\tPropose potential quality or productivity enhancements
\n\tReport fabrication issues and assist in resolutions as required.
\n\tSupport with ad hoc operational activities to support production as and when required.<\/p>\n
The preferred candidate will meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n
\tMinimum Grade 12 \/ N3
\n\tFormal Trade Qualification in Welding
\n\tMinimum 3 – 5 years relevant welding fabrication experience in GMAW (CO2)
\n\tKnowledge of OSHACT<\/p>\n
