\tA minimum of bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Accounting; Finance or equivalent (attach transcript)\u00a0
\n\tNew entrants into Finance or Payroll environment (in other words you must not have worked or held a Finance or Payroll internship before)\u00a0
\n\tBasic understanding of payroll administration\u00a0
\n\tStrong numerical and analytical skills\u00a0
\n\tComputer literacy (MS Office Suite)\u00a0
\n\tGood communication and interpersonal skills\u00a0
\n\tAbility to pay attention to detail\u00a0
\n\tMust be a South African citizen\u00a0<\/p>\n
DUTIES<\/p>\n
\tAssist in capturing and verifying payroll data including unpaid leave, claims, payments and deductions\u00a0
\n\tSupport the preparation of monthly payroll input and reconciliation reports\u00a0
\n\tHelp with the distribution of payslips and responding to basic payroll queries from employees\u00a0
\n\tAssist in processing terminations, new appointments, and allowances\u00a0
\n\tEnsure that all payroll transactions comply with tax laws, UIF, SDL, and relevant labour legislation\u00a0
\n\tMaintain accurate and confidential employee payroll records and filing\u00a0
\n\tSupport audit readiness by organising payroll documentation and responding to audit queries\u00a0
\n\tAssist in reconciling third-party payments (e.g. pension fund, SARS, medical aid)\u00a0
\n\tHelp prepare payroll journals for submission to the finance department\u00a0
\n\tContribute to the overall development of SMU and actively improve institutional culture\u00a0
\n\tPerform any other duties assigned by the line manager\u00a0<\/p>\n
