Responsibilities will include but not limited to:<\/p>\n
\tDirect liaison with relevant government departments (Department of Water & Sanitation; Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment etc.)
\n\tManage the submission and tracking of required licenses and environmental authorisations
\n\tEnsure the required compliance audits are conducted as required annually, and that the recommendations from such audits are implemented
\n\tEnsure documentation required for legal compliance is kept up to date as required (IWWMP; water balance etc.)
\n\tEnsure the effective implementation of environmental monitoring programmes (water, air, noise etc.)
\n\tResponsible for the environmental authorisation process required to be undertaken for any life extension projects
\n\tManagement of a financial budget for the department
\n\tManage environmental stakeholder engagements and Represent Khutala Colliery at external and internal environmental forums
\n\tResponsible for the development and implementation of a Mine Closure Plan
\n\tOversee environmental staff and ensure safety standards are maintained at all times
\n\tStaying abreast with new legislation and technologies within the field to assist the mine
\n\tResponsible for all environmental reporting requirements, including ESG Data reporting and developing projects to meet the ESG KPIs
\n\tImplementation of the Seriti Water Way, the Seriti Land Management Way and other divisional strategies as applicable<\/p>\n
\u00a0Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tMSc \/ BSc \/ BTech \/ Honours in Environmental Management or a related field
\n\tMSc + 3 years or BSc \/ BTech Honours + 5 years or BSc \/ BTech + 7 years\u2019 experience in the field of environmental management as applied in the mining environment
\n\tExperience in Water, Land, Air, Environmental Management systems and Stakeholder Management
\n\tKnowledge of the relevant South African Environmental legislation including the Mine Health and Safety Act
\n\tAn in-depth knowledge of Environmental Management standards and ISO 14001
\n\tUnderstanding of the latest international trends and practices within the environmental industry
\n\tCore environmental competency in water, rehabilitation, air or environmental management systems
\n\tExperience in setting out a budget and managing expenditures
\n\tStrong data evaluation and analytical skills
\n\tGood practical knowledge of MS Office programmes
\n\tValid driver\u2019s license
\n\tIn possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness<\/p>\n
