Position Overview:<\/p>\n
\tThe Lead Mfg Equipment Maintenance Technician is a pivotal role at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., based in Randburg.
\n\tThis role is integral to maintaining and improving the MBD Hammer Street site’s world-class production equipment and infrastructure.
\n\tYou will be part of an ambitious team dedicated to delivering flawless performance and outstanding solutions!<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Equipment Maintenance & Repair:<\/p>\n
\tMaintain and repair all plant equipment including auto-preparators, fillers, pressure vessels, pumps, electric motors, RO water systems, inkjet printers, cold rooms, and related machinery.<\/p>\n
Control Systems Expertise:<\/p>\n
\tRepair or replace control devices such as switches, pressure gauges, temperature probes, proximity sensors, push buttons, valves, electrical relays, stepper motors, motherboards, and other control components.<\/p>\n
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement:<\/p>\n
\tAddress technical challenges, develop effective solutions, and implement preventative measures to avoid future equipment failures.<\/p>\n
Documentation & Compliance:<\/p>\n
\tAccurately detail all repair and improvement activities. Ensure compliance with ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 standards under the mentorship of the Site Quality Manager.<\/p>\n
Contractor Supervision:<\/p>\n
\tSupervise contractors performing on-site work to ensure alignment with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures.<\/p>\n
Preventative Maintenance:<\/p>\n
\tDevelop, implement, and maintain a robust preventative maintenance schedule for all site equipment.<\/p>\n
Root Cause Analysis:<\/p>\n
\tParticipate in root cause analysis teams to address product quality or integrity issues, providing technical insights and corrective actions.<\/p>\n
Site Facility Management:<\/p>\n
\tCoordinate pest control, utilities contracts, engineering stores, maintenance and calibration contracts, fire equipment servicing, generator maintenance, site waste management, security, contractor management, and garden services.<\/p>\n
Emergency Response:<\/p>\n
\tRespond to site emergencies outside of normal working hours, including holidays and weekends, as required.<\/p>\n
Reporting:<\/p>\n
\tCompile and submit monthly maintenance reports to site management, detailing activities, issues, and improvements.<\/p>\n
Safety & Risk Assessments:<\/p>\n
\tCollaborate with the manufacturing team to conduct machine safety surveys, process risk assessments, and hazard observations.<\/p>\n
Skills and Attributes:<\/p>\n
\tPractical experience with compressors, refrigeration, and HVAC systems.
\n\tStrong background in working with contractors and vendors.
\n\tExcellent verbal and written communication skills.
\n\tEffective problem-solving abilities with a proactive mentality.
\n\tSound understanding of electrical systems, including 3-phase, 220Vac, and 24Vdc.
\n\tRelevant technical knowledge and a hands-on approach, with a passion for DIY projects.<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tDiploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
\n\tA trade-tested qualification is a distinct advantage.
\n\tProven experience in a manufacturing environment.
\n\tValid driver\u2019s license and reliable personal transport.
\n\tWillingness to work overtime, including weekends and public holidays, based on operational needs.<\/p>\n
