Job Objectives:<\/p>\n
Manage Development Planning<\/p>\n
\tAssess the company\u2019s strategic and spatial planning objectives in collaboration with the Urban Planning Director
\n\tCollectively and collaboratively implement development vision for the Waterfront
\n\tAnalyze and review planning and related matters regarding proposed, current and past projects
\n\tEstablish, prepare and manage planning, heritage and environmental development controls and applications
\n\tAlign implementation of development plans with development controls and approval processes
\n\tDirect, coordinate and manage statutory approval processes, and liaise with local and provincial authorities
\n\tManage and coordinate development objectives between company\u2019s business units<\/p>\n
Project Management<\/p>\n
\tCoordinate, manage and review planning inputs and workflows for development approval processes
\n\tCollectively coordinate and manage internal resources and consultants, including budgets
\n\tCollectively manage planning approval processes with regard to active Development department projects
\n\tCollectively manage and maintain system of planning records, plans, reports, approvals and documents
\n\tCollectively manage communication of planning and related information with internal and external parties, and authorities<\/p>\n
Monitoring Planning and Development<\/p>\n
\tMonitor on-gong V&A planning requirements and obligations with regard to V&A development rights, e.g., Heritage Conservation Management Plan, Bulk Register
\n\tMonitor and review general development and spatial planning issues impacting on the V&A
\n\tPrepare and submit reports on a) planning applications affecting the V&A and b) development issues, policies and spatial plans
\n\tMonitor and review local and provincial planning legislation, policies, development plans and frameworks and potential impacts on V&A projects\u00a0<\/p>\n
Technical Resources & Support<\/p>\n
\tManage, review and coordinate reports and documentation for planning and related applications
\n\tBrief consultants, planners and technicians for reports and applications
\n\tAssess and report on developments, projects and feasibility studies
\n\tAssist with approval of building plans
\n\tReview plans and maps for planning reports and applications
\n\tConduct site visits and inspections<\/p>\n
Educational Requirements:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tPostgraduate Urban and Regional Planning Degree (NQF level 9)
\n\tCertificate Course\/s in Built Environment field
\n\tRegistration with South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN) as a Professional Planner\u00a0<\/p>\n
Knowledge Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tTown Planning, Environmental and Heritage Legislation and Procedures
\n\t\u2018Package of Plans\u2019 planning approval system\u00a0
\n\tCity of Cape Town Development Management Scheme (DMS)
\n\tNational Building Regulations and Building Standards Act
\n\tDevelopment project requirements & skill sets of built environment professionals
\n\tLocal and Provincial Government Development Policies and Frameworks
\n\tUrban development and planning principles and issues, and implementation thereof
\n\tReading and interpreting plans and drawings related to own and related professions<\/p>\n
Experience Requirements:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\t10+ years\u2019 experience, including strategic development planning.\u00a0 Must have at least 5 Years experience working with a Municipal Zoning scheme<\/p>\n
