Strategic Planning and Advisory\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tLead the development and periodic review of the bank\u2019s corporate strategy, annual business\/performance plans and transformation roadmap.\u00a0
\n\tAct as an internal consultant across business units, advising on strategic alignment, performance optimisation, and innovation.\u00a0
\n\tFacilitate strategic planning sessions with Exco and Board Committees, including scenario planning and strategy refreshes.\u00a0
\n\tTranslate strategic intent into actionable and measurable plans and initiatives.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Execution Oversight and Performance Monitoring\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tDrive the execution of the strategy across the business through full integration with the Project Management Office (PMO) in alignment with the Corporate Plan and Annual Performance Plan.\u00a0
\n\tWork with business units to cascade strategic priorities and ensure alignment in operational plans and KPIs.\u00a0
\n\tMonitor implementation progress of key strategic initiatives, identifying risks and recommending course corrections.\u00a0
\n\tLead the development and reporting of performance dashboards for executive and board use.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Research, Policy and Environmental Scanning\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tLead environmental scanning and strategic research on market trends, policy changes, competitor activity, and socioeconomic shifts.\u00a0
\n\tDevelop strategic insights and policy recommendations that support Postbank\u2019s public development finance and financial inclusion role.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Engagement and Alignment\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tSupport the CEO and EXCO in engagements with shareholders and stakeholders (e.g. National Treasury, DCDT, Parliament), regulators (e.g. Prudential Authority), and key partners.\u00a0
\n\tPrepare strategic content for presentations, submissions, and oversight reports to government and parliamentary bodies.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Special Projects and Thought Leadership\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tDrive and\/or support high-priority strategic projects, including market entry, partnerships, product expansion, and digital transformation.\u00a0
\n\tProvide thought leadership on topics such as financial inclusion, digital banking models, ESG strategy, and public sector innovation.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Team Management\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tLead, motivate, guide and manage the team to create an enabling environment to achieve strategic objectives through a culture of performance excellence that promotes teamwork, collaboration, professional development and growth.\u00a0
\n\tManage performance of direct reports, ensuring agreement of annual goals, measuring performance against agreed goals and dealing with non-performance accordingly. Talent management of direct reports including career development\/pathing for all staff and succession planning for key positions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Experience\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in Commerce, Economics, Engineering, or related field\u00a0
\n\tRelevant Post Graduate qualification in business administration\/strategic management (NQF Level 9), e.g. MBA\/MBL\u00a0
\n\tMinimum 10 years of experience in strategy development and execution, preferably in financial services or banking\u00a0
\n\tProven track record in leading strategic projects and advising executive leadership\u00a0
\n\tExperience in working with or within state-owned enterprises or regulated environments is highly advantageous\u00a0<\/p>\n
