{"id":14004,"date":"2025-07-16T18:02:13","date_gmt":"2025-07-16T18:02:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/southafrica\/job\/general-manager-sales-road-automotive\/"},"modified":"2025-10-17T00:24:21","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T00:24:21","slug":"general-manager-sales-road-automotive","status":"expired","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/southafrica\/?post_type=job_listing&p=14004","title":{"rendered":"General Manager, Sales, Road (Automotive)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Main Purpose of the Role<\/p>\n<p>\tResponsible for the overall management of the Automotive vertical and the Key Account Managers to which automotive accounts are allocated.<br \/>\n\tThis means having an in-depth understanding of, and influence, on all functions in the Automotive industry, including Operations, Human Resources, IT and Finance and Sales.<br \/>\n\tTaking complete ownership for revenue retention and growth within Automotive vertical for Road with a view of expanding the portfolio into other DSV business units in future (Solutions and Air &amp; Sea).<br \/>\n\tStrategically retaining, growing existing base and targeting new logos to meet ambitious Automotive vertical growth targets.<br \/>\n\tAn effective General Manager achieves key business deliverables by driving sales performance in line with business objectives.<\/p>\n<p>Basic Minimum Requirements<\/p>\n<p>\tMinimum of 5 years end-to-end Supply Chain experience of which at least 3 years managing Account Managers supporting reputable Auto brands supply chain especially on the outbound road distribution within South Africa.<br \/>\n\tResponding to Tenders \/ RFI\u2019s \/ RFP\u2019s \/ RFQ\u2019s \u2013 and formulating logistical solutions for Automotive brands.<br \/>\n\tNational Diploma or equivalent.<br \/>\n\tPlease note: Experience in car or truck sales or vehicle \/ fleet leasing is not considered appropriate experience for this position \u2013 it needs to be Automotive logistics (road freight) experience.<\/p>\n<p>Added advantages:<\/p>\n<p>\tExperience in end-to-end Supply Chain management within the Automotive sector (inclusive of inbound logistics via Air &amp; Sea as well as warehousing services)<br \/>\n\tAny experience gained working for an Auto OEM in a Supply Chain or Logistics capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Duties and Responsibilities<\/p>\n<p>\tEnsure that the DSV Auto Sales team aligns to company and customer strategies to achieve long term relationships and profitable business within the portfolio.<br \/>\n\tBuilding and maintaining relationships within portfolio accounts (C-level) as well as internally with Regional Management and all Directors.<br \/>\n\tCreating a positive team environment and implementing new business effectively, managing Account Managers according to agreed Minimal Acceptable Standards (MAS).<br \/>\n\tThis should be achieved by (but not limited to)<\/p>\n<p>Commercial<\/p>\n<p>\tTender Submissions &#8211; Ensure DSV is invited and responds effectively to market tenders. Where required, to also compile and present proposals to customers<br \/>\n\tRevenue &#8211; Monitoring billing variance reports to identify revenue loss and leakage. Achieve new business and retention targets<br \/>\n\tBudgets &#8211; Setting annual budgets for all customers considering annual increases, Up\/Down trade, trading days and individual customer seasonality. Identifying trends in customers to enable optimal resourcing for DSV<br \/>\n\tDebtors &#8211; Managing teams to achieve &lt;35 days on DSO\u2019s, Managing Account Managers to achieve ZERO debtors outstanding longer than 120 days and providing guidance and assistance to resolve<\/p>\n<p>Team Management<\/p>\n<p>\tAnnual goal setting &#8211; for all subordinates along with quarterly follow ups<br \/>\n\tPerformance reviews &#8211; Quarterly and Annually<br \/>\n\tSoft skills &#8211; such as conflict management and motivation<br \/>\n\tResource planning &#8211; to always ensure sufficient capacity<\/p>\n<p>Governance, Compliance and Reporting<\/p>\n<p>\tContract Negotiation<br \/>\n\tLiabilities<br \/>\n\tInsurance<br \/>\n\tNDA\u2019s<br \/>\n\tPenalties<br \/>\n\tAnnual Rate increase calculations and implementation<br \/>\n\tEnsure updated and singed contracts for all customers<br \/>\n\tEnsure and keep a register of annual increases applied<br \/>\n\tMonthly reporting of new business and retention achievement<br \/>\n\tMonthly and annual insurance declaration compliance<\/p>\n<p>Relationship management<\/p>\n<p>\tCustomer Engagements &#8211; (either on site or virtual) consisting of weekly operational meetings, monthly business reviews and quarterly strategic sessions.
