\n\tOur iKTribe is looking for a Data Engineer to design, maintain, and optimise the pipelines and tools that keep our data flowing smoothly across the business.<\/p>\n
So, what will you do?\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tYou will enable data-driven decision-making by providing the necessary infrastructure and tools for collecting, organizing, and processing and storing large volumes of data.
\n\tYou will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their data requirements and implement solutions that support the organization’s data needs.<\/p>\n
In addition to the above, you will:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tDesign, develop, and maintain data pipelines, ensuring efficient and reliable data processing, transformation, and storage.
\n\tIntegrate data from various sources, both internal and external, ensuring data quality and integrity.
\n\tOptimise data infrastructure and pipelines for scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
\n\tCollaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand their data requirements and assist in the design and implementation of data models and structures.
\n\tCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements, develop data solutions, and support data-driven decision-making.
\n\tStay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering, and recommend innovative solutions to enhance our data infrastructure and processes.
\n\tDocument and maintain technical specifications, system configurations, and data flow diagrams.
\n\tImplement and monitor data governance and security measures to ensure data privacy and compliance with relevant regulations.
\n\tTroubleshoot and resolve issues related to data processing, pipeline performance, and data quality.<\/p>\n
Qualifications<\/p>\n
\tBSc Computer Science \/ BCom \/ IT related Degree.
\n\tData engineering industry related certifications<\/p>\n
Deal Breakers:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tA minimum of 3-5 years\u2019 experience in a Data Engineer role with the following:
\n\tMust have experience working directly with data teams (Including BI analysts, Data Analysts, Data Scientists and Business Analysts) and good exposure to various business functions.
\n\tSolid experience and excellent understanding of database\u2019s, ETL, SQL, data modelling (Kimball), Data integration and API\u2019s.
\n\tSolid experience working in cloud platforms like Snowflake or Azure or AWS.
\n\tGood experience in developing in Python.
\n\tGood quality assurance experience in testing specifications and data integrity whereby data quality and governance must be at the top of the agenda.
\n\tHas worked previously in a data warehouse environment.
\n\tIn addition to the above, experience in the following will make you a frontrunner for the role:
\n\tPrevious industry experience in financial services and \/ or data engineering (analytics environment would be an advantage).
\n\tGood understanding and knowledge of the data engineering and analytics landscape.
\n\tGood understanding, participation and active engagement in defined internal processes such as how SLDC works in a data driven environment.
\n\tGeneral knowledge, understanding and exposure of data management principles such as the DMBOK framework would be advantageous.
\n\tA good understanding of how various functional areas within a business work such as Sales, Marketing, Finance, HR, Logistics, and Operations.
\n\tA good understanding of how card transactions and the online payment industry works.
\n\tA very good understanding of the data and product management domain.
\n\tKnowledge of Agile Scrum development principles and methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
\n\tAttention to detail and quality.<\/p>\n
