Position Purpose<\/p>\n
\tTo ensure the safe operation of the engine room & equipment, carry out watch keeping in engine room and attend to all planned maintenance schedules and repairs to breakdowns to improve the operational availability of the vessel and to ensure that all plant and equipment are maintained to the set standard.<\/p>\n
Position Outputs<\/p>\n
\tWatch keepinq – monitorinq of temperature, pressure, etc.
\n\tStarting up Plant and machinery and monitor warm through process.
\n\tCarry out work from planned maintenance schedules.
\n\tAttend to breakdowns.
\n\tRecord enqine hours and keep loqbook up to date
\n\tTrain sub-ordinates.
\n\tControl stock issues and note movements in spares book.
\n\tMaintain & check all safety equipment.
\n\tTransfer fuel and ballast.<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Experience<\/p>\n
\tGrade 12 or N4 Apprenticeship or cadetship – 30 months
\n\tCertificate of competency as Engineer Officer issued in terms of the Merchant Shipping Act- 12 months sea time Work environment:
\n\tLives on board the vessel for a stipulated period of time on a 12\/24 hours, 14 day shift basis At least 6 to 12 month’s experience as a MEO<\/p>\n
