PURPOSE<\/p>\n
\tTo execute environmental assessments, inspections, monitoring and interrogation of monitoring results in line with all relevant statutory and company requirements.
\n\tReport on any deviations or opportunities identified.
\n\tAssist with the preparation of reports, the analysis of data and engaging authorities and service providers.<\/p>\n
RESPONSIBILITIES<\/p>\n
Risk<\/p>\n
\tTrack compliance to permits, licenses and authorisations to ensure that the operation meets its license to operate obligations
\n\tLog any non-conformances with the environmental management program on the event management system and escalate to line
\n\tEnsure accurate and timeous preparation and submission of internal environmental monitoring and inspection reports
\n\tAssist the Environmental Superintendent \/ Specialist with the accurate and timeous reporting of all required company and legal environmental information
\n\tSupport the Environmental Superintendent and line management in the development of environmentally related policies, standards and procedures
\n\tAttend and provide input on environmental issues in mine planning meetings.
\n\tEnsure that there are no deviations from EIA commitments and license conditions
\n\tDevelop and execute environmental awareness programmes
\n\tSupport liaison with environmental regulatory authorities with regards to reporting, auditing activities and closing out directives issued
\n\tCollaborate with line management and employees on addressing any shortcomings or non-conformances identified. Advise line management on mitigation measures and track preventative and corrective actions to completion
\n\tProvide first line support to external environmental service providers and consultants with regards to site access, logistics, quality assurance on work outputs, etc.
\n\tConduct environmental monitoring, inspections and audits on air, water, land biodiversity and rehabilitation as per environmental management plan requirements
\n\tCapture and maintain environmental monitoring results and environmental information in the computerised environmental management system
\n\tContribute to and\/or facilitate environmental event investigations and the development and implementation of preventative and\/or corrective actions
\n\tAssist in the development, control and monitoring of capital and operating budgets for the environmental function at the operation.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS<\/p>\n
\tMSc \u2013 Experience or Honours \/ BSc \/ BTech in Natural \/ Environmental Science or related field
\n\tComputer literacy in MS Office
\n\tValid driver\u2019s license
\n\tIn possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness.<\/p>\n
EXPERIENCE<\/p>\n
\tAtleast 3 \u2013 5 years internship or similar relevant experience in environmental management
\n\tKnowledge of the OHS act, Mine Health and Safety Act
\n\tIntroduction to ISO 14001
\n\tIntroduction to Project Management
\n\tIntroduction to Environmental Law
\n\tUnderstanding of local environmental related legislation and reporting requirements for both company and local needs
\n\tUnderstanding of environmental challenges in the coal mining industry
\n\tIn-depth understanding and application of environmental management systems (ISO)
\n\tKnowledge and understanding of environmental impacts and aspects<\/p>\n
