The Content Lead combines the creativity and skill of a specialist writer with leadership, organisational and problem-solving abilities to meet the content objectives of each business. Reporting to the Head of Content, the Content Lead oversees the day-to-day content planning, generation and execution of content development. The Content Lead supervises freelance writers, with the responsibility to create compelling thought leadership, brand and social media content for Discovery\u2019s investment, insurance and employee benefit offerings. The Content Lead plays a key role in coordinating, planning and collaborating with various internal, marketing, editorial and project teams to deliver high-quality content for various target audiences and platforms.<\/p>\n<p>As the Content Lead, responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n<p>\tDeveloping quality content across multiple platforms and formats<br \/>\n\tMeeting with editorial and project teams on the various insurance brands, and social media and PR teams to brainstorm and develop content ideas for all media channels<br \/>\n\tPlanning and managing daily content operations for the portfolio<br \/>\n\tCollaborating with the Head of Content to understand content priorities and solutions<br \/>\n\tPresenting content opportunities and solutions to heads of brand, social media and PR<br \/>\n\tSupervising freelance writers and other content producers, as required for different projects and briefs<br \/>\n\tManaging project plans, schedules, work flow data and related administration\u00a0<br \/>\n\tIdentifying unique content opportunities in line with the key messages and priorities as stipulated by business<br \/>\n\tIdentifying opportunities for content that will be suitable and relevant for a media audience<br \/>\n\tCollaborating with a broader team to identify opportunities that will build the thought leadership position of experts and leaders in the business<br \/>\n\tResearching and overseeing development of content for various executive LinkedIn profiles<br \/>\n\tIdentifying opportunities where data insights from business can be leveraged in content<br \/>\n\tAssisting the team in conducting interviews with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to produce content according to client briefs<br \/>\n\tDeveloping and managing content plans according to content and marketing strategies<br \/>\n\tAssisting the team in developing content in various forms, including press releases, opinion pieces, website content, media responses and reports\u00a0<br \/>\n\tProject managing large content projects when required\u00a0<br \/>\n\tWorking with and providing support to the Head of social media on social media content<br \/>\n\tWorking with various internal and external stakeholders, including clients and suppliers\u00a0<br \/>\n\tManaging briefs for video and photography shoots, as well as design agencies\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In this role, the Content Lead is responsible for ensuring continuous improvement and professional development, operational relationships with internal stakeholders<\/p>\n<p>\tEngage with senior business colleagues to contribute to the brand or communication strategy<br \/>\n\tResearches local and international trends and business enablers and makes recommendations on content and editorial plans and strategies<br \/>\n\tProvides expert guidance to colleagues on industry best practice<br \/>\n\tParticipates in meetings and forums to share knowledge, encourage innovation and manage complexities.<\/p>\n<p>Competencies<\/p>\n<p>\tUnderstanding of the financial, insurance and investments landscape<br \/>\n\tExcellent writing skills, with experience in financial and technical writing an advantage<br \/>\n\tAbility to develop content strategies, plans and campaigns targeted at various audiences\u00a0<br \/>\n\tAbility to engage with senior management within the organisation\u00a0<br \/>\n\tAbility to translate complex concepts into engaging and simple content\u00a0<br \/>\n\tAbility to understand the voice of the organisation and adapt the tone of the content to the audience\u00a0<br \/>\n\tProject management experience and skills\u00a0<br \/>\n\tAttention to detail\u00a0<br \/>\n\tExcellent interpersonal skills\u00a0<br \/>\n\tAbility to work well in a team and oversee the deliverables of a team of writers<br \/>\n\tAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlines\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Education and experience<\/p>\n<p>\tMatric and appropriate tertiary qualification (degree with marketing, communication, journalism, writing or language components)\u00a0<br \/>\n\tExtensive writing experience<br \/>\n\tBackground in writing on financial, insurance and investment topics<br \/>\n\tMinimum 5 \u2013 8 years\u2019 experience (PR, editorial, social media,
