PURPOSE OF THE POSITION<\/p>\n
\tProviding quality service regarding teaching and learning, research and innovation, and community engagement and commercialisation activities within the Subject Group: English for Education.<\/p>\n
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n
Teaching and Learning.<\/p>\n
\tTeaching a variety of English modules within a multi-modal delivery approach of teacher training programmes at under- and postgraduate level. \u00a0Expertise and experience of teaching English at school and\/or a higher education institution are required.<\/p>\n
Research.<\/p>\n
\tPerform research in the fields of language learning and teaching. Produce research outputs in an area of language education research.
\n\tCommunity Engagement and Service Learning.
\n\tActive participation in the development of community-based research by adapting and designing modules for service learning.<\/p>\n
Administration.<\/p>\n
\tPlanning, organising and record keeping as part of office and subject (module) administration in accordance with faculty\u2019s teaching policy and close collaboration with the subject group (meetings).
\n\tWork Integrated Learning.
\n\tActive participation in order to operationalise the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) programme at all levels.<\/p>\n
Minimum requirements<\/p>\n
\tA BA or Bachelor of Education Honours (BEdHons) degree in English or English education or relevant to English teaching or learning (NQF level 8).
\n\tA professional teacher\u2019s qualification with specialisation in language teaching methodologies \/ didactics (NQF level 7).
\n\tA minimum of one (1) year functional experience in primary, secondary or tertiary teaching.<\/p>\n
ADDED ADVANTAGES & PREFERENCES:<\/p>\n
\tRegistration with SACE.<\/p>\n
KEY FUNCTIONAL\/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:<\/p>\n
\tSubject knowledge: English HL and\/or FAL.
\n\tTeaching skills: Language Methodology and Didactics.
\n\tAssessment competencies.
\n\tComputer literate (Microsoft Office Suite).<\/p>\n
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:<\/p>\n
\tHigh standard of work ethics.
\n\tCommunication.
\n\tAble to work individually as well as part of a subject group (team).
\n\tAbility to create own structures, adhere to deadlines and work in a self-directed manner.<\/p>\n
REMUNERATION: The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.<\/p>\n
