An opportunity has become available for a SHE In-service Trainee based at National Brands Westmead Biscuits factory in Pinetown, Durban reporting to the Safety Manager. This is a fixed term contract for 12 months.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Key Areas of Impact:<\/p>\n
Interns will be involved in learning and assisting with a wide range of SHEQ-related functions, including but not limited to:<\/p>\n
\tAssisting in the review and updating of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies, procedures, and standards
\n\tSupporting the promotion of safety awareness and fostering a proactive health and safety culture
\n\tParticipating in SHE initiatives and contributing to projects that drive SHEQ best practices
\n\tAssisting in the analysis of SHEQ data and reports, identifying improvement areas and proposing actionable solutions
\n\tParticipating in risk assessments, site inspections, and hazard identification processes
\n\tRepresenting health and safety concerns to management and addressing employee SHE-related queries or complaints
\n\tMonitoring workplace conditions to ensure compliance with safety standards and reporting potential hazards
\n\tSupporting the enforcement of SHE policies and procedures for both internal staff and contractors
\n\tAssisting in the planning and execution of internal and external SHE audits
\n\tCoordinating and conducting inductions and basic SHE training sessions
\n\tCollaborating with various departments in developing and implementing SHEQ procedures and systems
\n\tSupporting fire and security risk management initiatives<\/p>\n
Qualifications that will contribute to your success:<\/p>\n
\tGrade 12 Senior Certificate (Matric)
\n\tNational Diploma or Degree in Safety Management
\n\tComputer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint)<\/p>\n
