\tThis position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data centre operations. The candidate must have experience in people management, a strong technical understanding, and the drive and vision to take Tracker Data Center Operations to the next level. The successful candidate will have experience creating\/devising strategies, mentoring people at all levels, sponsoring projects, and proposing technical solutions. This position involves leading teams in Server Support, VMware support, SAN\/Array Support, Backup support, and Linux, support. This position requires hardware diagnostics followed by physical repair and includes participation in an on-call rotation. All candidates should be willing to work both independently. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful. In addition to a strong knowledge of Data Centres and hardware repair, candidates will create documentation, innovate solutions, participate in site-level project work, and fix complex problems within the Data Center Space. This team works in an environment that operates 24\/7.<\/p>\n

Servers<\/p>\n
\tManagement of the servers
\n\tEnsure that servers have the appropriate Firmware and Drivers installed and up-to-date
\n\tEnsure that user access to the servers is managed and limited
\n\tEnsure that server data is backed up as agreed with the appropriate business owner
\n\tEnsure that servers are monitored for performance and uptime<\/p>\n
SAN and array (Storage)<\/p>\n
\tSet up and configure storage devices
\n\tDo routine maintenance on storage devices
\n\tLiaise with 3rd party vendors regarding storage device support
\n\tUpgrade Storage device firmware
\n\tManagement of all disks
\n\tEnsure that a capacity planning procedure is created and implemented
\n\tEnsure that a process for obtaining and installing replacement parts is created and implemented
\n\tEnsure that standby staff are trained to procure and install replacement parts
\n\tEnsure that disks are monitored for performance and integrity
\n\tEnsure SAN replication takes place<\/p>\n
Backups and Restores<\/p>\n
\tCreate and\/or regularly update a backup and restore procedure and policy
\n\tMaintain a record of system backup frequencies and backup times
\n\tPerform regular tests of the ability to restore backed-up data
\n\tMonitor the backup hardware and software for correct operation
\n\tManage the procurement of media as required to implement the backup procedure and policy
\n\tEnsure backups conform to best practice retention cycles<\/p>\n
Disaster Recovery<\/p>\n
\tEnsure All critical Business systems are replicated at DR
\n\tEnsure All recovery systems are replicated at DR, including Infrastructure, DB replication and Software
\n\tManage Infrastructure DR Plan
\n\tManage DR Datacenter availability and stability
\n\tManage DR connectivity
\n\tManage DR capacity<\/p>\n
Application Server<\/p>\n
\tManagement of all application servers for all Tracker applications
\n\tDefine and regularly review a SLA with affected business users
\n\tEnsure application servers are available in line with agreed SLA<\/p>\n

\n\tFacilities (Note: This role is not responsible for execution of the facilities role (excluding the management of the DC\u2019s), only for ensuring that the facilities resources meet the requirements of the technology department).
\n\tManage Tracker Data Centre (collocated OR owned)
\n\tEnsure all infrastructure facilities are secure
\n\tManage environmental monitoring<\/p>\n
Capacity Planning<\/p>\n
\tCreate and \/ or regularly update a capacity management process and procedure
\n\tRegular review of capacity management monitoring results
\n\tImplementation of appropriate actions to address findings of capacity management monitoring<\/p>\n
Minimum requirements<\/p>\n
\tA Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent IT Qualification or Diploma
\n\tExperience and product-specific training as it relates to the role and technologies in use
\n\tSAN Certified
\n\tVmware Certified
\n\tServer Support
\n\tStorage Support
\n\tMinimum 7 Years Working Experience
\n\t5 years of experience in a technical environment.
\n\t5 years’ experience in participating in on-call rotations, and providing after-hours support in an environment that operates 24\/7
\n\t5 years of experience with Computer hardware and Data Centres.
\n\t5 Years working on Vmware or storage environments<\/p>\n
