{"id":15712,"date":"2025-08-06T12:00:21","date_gmt":"2025-08-06T12:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/southafrica\/job\/research-group-leader-project-engineer-mine-closure-rehabilitation\/"},"modified":"2025-11-07T00:24:39","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T00:24:39","slug":"research-group-leader-project-engineer-mine-closure-rehabilitation","status":"expired","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/southafrica\/?post_type=job_listing&p=15712","title":{"rendered":"Research Group Leader \n\n\n            \n\n            \n            Project Engineer: Mine Closure &amp; Rehabilitation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:<\/p>\n<p>Management and execution of research projects.<\/p>\n<p>\tPropose and\/or contribute to the strategic investment plan and implement, Contract Research and Development and other grant-funded projects (NRF, TIA, Government departments; international e.g. Horizon 2020).<br \/>\n\tDevelop written research projects proposal based on the needs of clients or specific new project ideas for innovation.<br \/>\n\tConduct scientific research as per scope to achieve objectives.<br \/>\n\tCompile monthly project report progress.<br \/>\n\t\u00a0Monitor &amp; evaluate project milestones against billing in long-running projects (annual and multiple years).<br \/>\n\tManage all resources involved in a project, namely budget, people and equipment.<br \/>\n\tEnsure the completion of projects and tasks on time.<br \/>\n\tCompile reports of investigations in the division.<br \/>\n\tAttend scientific workshops and conference to present research work.<br \/>\n\tWrite conference papers and journal manuscripts.<br \/>\n\tInitiate, maintain and strengthen the new and existing local and international collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>Execute daily activities of the group<\/p>\n<p>\tConceptualization of research, coordinating research outputs and reports.<br \/>\n\tProduce high quality reports, papers, book chapters and presentations.<br \/>\n\tSupervise and co-supervise the postgraduate students and staff, MSc and PhD.<br \/>\n\t\u00a0Initiate funding for research running cost i.e. external funding (NRF, Industry etc.) and internal funds (Science vote).<br \/>\n\tImprove quality and efficiency of processes with the interaction of stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>Participate in proficiency testing schemes and production of certified reference material<\/p>\n<p>\tActively participate in group proficiency testing schemes to ensure that desired results are obtained.<br \/>\n\t\u00a0Participate in troubleshooting animalities and provide solutions to scientific challenges.<br \/>\n\tParticipate in the CRM production activities when required.<br \/>\n\t\u00a0Assist in compiling data for CRM production.<\/p>\n<p>Maintain and adhere to all SHEQ procedures<\/p>\n<p>\tActively participates in SHEQ duties and attends all relevant meetings.<br \/>\n\tPractices Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) by ensuring that all work areas, balance rooms and the general laboratory are kept clean.<br \/>\n\tStrives to meet the objectives of the group by observing the quality, safety and environmental standards set out by the division.<br \/>\n\tWorks systematically and in compliance with the group\u2019s standard operating procedures and methods to achieve accurate assays within acceptable time frames.<\/p>\n<p>Minimum requirements<\/p>\n<p>\tMinimum: MSc in Chemistry<br \/>\n\tIdeal: PhD in Chemistry<br \/>\n\tAt least 3 years experience in technologies domain research within an RDI environment.<br \/>\n\t5-10 years\u2019 experience in the chemistry laboratory<br \/>\n\t5-10 years\u2019 experience in the research outputs\u00a0<br \/>\n\tA minimum of 5 scientific peer reviewed publications<br \/>\n\tMinimum of 3 years of working experience in ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.<br \/>\n\tAbility to troubleshoot instruments and commission new equipment.<br \/>\n\tAbility to develop and maintain a quality assurance system and administration thereof.<br \/>\n\tProfessional registration (SACNASP or SACI-Corporate Member)<\/p>\n<p>go to method of application \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Apply via company website ( http:\/\/www.mintek.co.za ) or<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_promoted":"","_job_location":"","_application":"","_company_name":"Mintek","_company_website":"http:\/\/www.mintek.co.za","_company_tagline":"Mintek, South Africa\u2019s national mineral research organisation, is one of the world\u2019s leading technology organisations specialising in mineral processing, extractive metallurgy and related areas.
