Job Purpose<\/p>\n
\tTo implement and manage the general accounting function by ensuring accurate reflection of the financial position, complying with all legal and internal requirements, and providing a sound basis for management interpretation.
\n\tPerform month end transactional activities e.g., review of adjustments, month-end closing procedures, and recon preparation etc.
\n\tProvide first level support in terms of call and query handling across AEL
\n\tPerform selected bank reconciliations
\n\tReview, approve, and post predefined manual journal entries and support documentation and narration to journal (ensure journal entries are valid, accurate, and complete)
\n\tReconcile balance sheet accounts within an SLA timeline and follow up on long outstanding items with Retain Finance.
\n\tPrepare a monthly memorandum of balance sheet recon issues for review by the in-country team or Retaine Finance.
\n\tMaintain an issue log of business activities, where you have identified key concerns.
\n\tHave a quarterly meeting with the in-country team or Retain Finance, for re-education of key governance processes and also addressing key concern areas.
\n\tAlign with COE on GL master data maintenance
\n\tCapture loading of EFT payments i.e., non-vendor related payments
\n\tRelease of EFT payments (not for the same country for which you have loaded payments)
\n\tProcess of non-vendor related payments in SAP
\n\tConduct cash book processing and bank reconciliation preparation
\n\tEnsure all long outstanding and reconciling items on bank reconciliation are timeously cleared
\n\tEngage with stakeholders at an operational level to address any service delivery issues
\n\tComply with all legislation relating to accounting matters
\n\tIdentify internal control weaknesses and assist in developing and implementing improvement opportunities
\n\tReview audit instructions and compile\/prepare supporting documentation for the audit process<\/p>\n

Qualifications & Experience\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
\tB Com Financial Accounting or equivalent qualification
\n\t3 \u2013 5 years\u2019 experience as an Accountant or equivalent (with Supervisory experience)
\n\tArticles (Advantageous)\u00a0
\n\tManufacturing Industry (advantageous)
\n\tAdvanced knowledge of the MS Office Suite \u2013 especially MS Excel and Word
\n\tSound knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
\n\tKnowledge of an ERP system, preferably SAP ECC6<\/p>\n
