Key Performance Objectives & Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Operational Delivery<\/p>\n
\tDevelop, document, and continuously improve GIA\u2019s audit methodology, ensuring alignment with IIA Standards and organisational needs.
\n\tSupport the HIA in developing a risk-based audit coverage plan and respond to specific management requests.
\n\tMaintain an in-depth understanding of the Group\u2019s businesses, operating models, and evolving risks.
\n\tBuild and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Group to understand assurance needs and manage expectations.
\n\tOversee and review Statements of Work (SOWs), budgets, project memoranda, walkthroughs, risk and control matrices (RCMs), and audit working papers.
\n\tPerform complex and sensitive audits and investigations.
\n\tReview and approve audit deliverables prior to HIA sign-off.
\n\tCoordinate with Risk Management, External Audit, and other assurance providers to optimise assurance coverage and reduce duplication.
\n\tMonitor and report progress against the approved plan, ensuring timely execution and quality of audits.
\n\tPromote the role and value of GIA within the organisation.
\n\tOversee and assist the HIA to conduct investigations into whistleblower complaints, ensuring thorough evidence gathering, root cause analysis, and compliance with legal and policy requirements.
\n\tMaintain an investigation register to track case status, findings, recommendations, and closure.
\n\tPrepare periodic whistleblowing and investigation reports for the HIA, Audit Committee, and other governance forums, including trends, emerging risks, and remediation status.<\/p>\n
Quality Assurance<\/p>\n
\tOversee the application of GIA\u2019s Quality Assurance and Improvement Programme (QAIP).
\n\tEnsure audit and investigation engagements meet IIA and internal quality standards, including documentation, performance assessments, client surveys, and post-engagement evaluations.
\n\tChampion a culture of continuous improvement in audit, whistleblowing, and investigative processes.<\/p>\n
Planning & Project Management<\/p>\n
\tAssign projects and resources in a way that supports both delivery and staff development.
\n\tCommunicate engagement scope, objectives, and timelines to clients and teams.
\n\tManage deadlines, budgets, and resourcing for multiple concurrent audits and investigations.
\n\tIdentify and escalate project or case issues\u2014such as delays, re-scoping, or staffing challenges\u2014to the HIA in a timely manner.<\/p>\n
Fieldwork Oversight<\/p>\n
\tReview and approve audit and investigation work papers, ensuring findings are evidence-based and conclusions are sound.
\n\tEnsure all identified issues are well understood, validated, and documented before reporting.
\n\tProvide input into Audit Committee reports and presentations, including whistleblowing and investigation updates.<\/p>\n
People Leadership & Development<\/p>\n
\tLead and manage the Internal Audit team to deliver business outcomes effectively.
\n\tProvide career coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to team members.
\n\tIdentify skills gaps and implement training and development plans, including a departmental training curriculum.
\n\tManage recruitment, onboarding, and induction for new team members.
\n\tAddress poor performance and resolve team conflicts, escalating to HIA or Human Capital where necessary.
\n\tRecognise and celebrate strong performance, fostering a high-performance culture.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tBCom (Hons) in Internal Auditing\/Accounting \u00a0
\n\tCertified Internal Auditor (CIA)\/ CA(SA)
\n\tMinimum 7 years\u2019 auditing experience, including at least 2 years in a management role.
\n\tStrong technical knowledge of risk management, internal controls, internal auditing, and IIA Standards.
\n\tDemonstrated experience in delivering and managing assurance, consulting, and investigative engagements.
\n\tExceptional report writing skills, with the ability to provide insightful, value-added recommendations.
\n\tFMCG\/ Pharmaceutical industry exposure preferable<\/p>\n
