\tTRACKER requires an experienced, energetic, and passionate incumbent to head up our Procurement department. To lead and manage the procurement function by developing and implementing effective sourcing strategies, ensuring cost-efficiency, compliance, and supplier performance. The role supports business objectives through strategic supplier management, risk mitigation, and cross-functional collaboration, while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.<\/p>\n
Job description
\nProcurement Strategy & Leadership<\/p>\n
\tDevelop, implement, and manage procurement strategies aligned with the organisation\u2019s objectives.
\n\tAssist with the initial setup of the Procurement Department.
\n\tDefine, develop, and manage procurement processes, procedures, and systems.
\n\tDevelop corporate procurement standards, practices & procedures.
\n\tForecast future procurement needs based on market trends, company growth, and operational requirements.
\n\tAnticipate organisational and market evolution and adapt sourcing strategies accordingly.
\n\tSupport various business functions by sourcing materials and services in line with project requirements.
\n\tDefine financial models to assist management in determining purchasing strategies.<\/p>\n
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management<\/p>\n
\tIdentify, select, and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
\n\tEstablish and manage relationships with preferred suppliers.
\n\tIdentify and develop new capable best-in-class suppliers in cooperation with Business Heads.
\n\tSet up and manage supplier contracts.
\n\tNegotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to secure favourable deals.
\n\tPrepare and lead supplier negotiations.
\n\tMonitor vendor\/supplier performance and address issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance.
\n\tMonitor supplier compliance to contracted SLA\u2019s and test existing contracts<\/p>\n
Procurement Operations & Process Efficiency<\/p>\n
\tManage the end-to-end procurement process from requisition to purchase order to delivery.
\n\tEnsure timely and accurate processing of purchase orders and receipts.
\n\tOversee inventory levels, ensuring availability without excess.
\n\tWork closely with the Operations Manager, Warehouse Teams, and IT Support Staff to avoid wastage.
\n\tMaintain detailed records of all procurement transactions and vendor contracts.
\n\tAnalyse spending trends and work to optimise cost-efficiency.
\n\tIdentify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
\n\tEnsure appropriate inventory levels in line with operational needs<\/p>\n
Policy, Compliance & Risk Management<\/p>\n
\tEnsure that all group-wide procurement policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
\n\tEnsure procurement activities comply with legal, regulatory, and organisational policies.
\n\tCompliance and Corporate Governance.
\n\tImplementation of appropriate BBBEE initiatives.
\n\tManage procurement risk by monitoring market conditions and ensuring continuity of supply.<\/p>\n
Budgeting, Reporting & Performance Management<\/p>\n
\tPrepare and manage the procurement budget, ensuring effective cost control.
\n\tManage and achieve benefits ensuring transparency of costs to track savings.
\n\tPrepare regular reports on procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance.
\n\tMaintain accurate records of procurement requests and spend tracking.<\/p>\n
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration<\/p>\n
\tEstablish close contact with business units to understand internal demand and service quality expectations.
\n\tWork closely with internal departments (Finance, Marketing, Operations) to align procurement with organisational needs.
\n\tEnsure effective implementation and roll-out of corporate and regional contracts in collaboration with Business Heads.<\/p>\n
People Management<\/p>\n
\tLead, mentor, and develop the procurement team to meet goals.
\n\tProvide training and development opportunities for team members.
\n\tProvide direction and guidance by clearly communicating team goals, expectations, and priorities.
\n\tOffer ongoing coaching and mentorship to ensure team members understand their roles and responsibilities as well as enhance their skills, knowledge and confidence.
\n\tConduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for growth and development.
\n\tFoster a culture of continuous improvement.
\n\tMotivate team members by recognising their achievements and contributions to the team and company. Create a positive and collaborative work environment.
\n\tIdentify training needs within the team and provide opportunities for skills development (e.g., technical skills, soft skills, industry certifications etc.) Encourage participation in training programmes.
\n\tIdentify and develop high-potential team members to ensure a smooth transition for future leadership roles in terms of succession planning.
\n\tEmpower team members to take ownership of their work and make decisions within their area of expertise by delegating tasks appropriately.
\n\tMaintain open and transparent communication with the team, ensuring everyone is informed and engaged; and encourage upward feedback.

Financial Management<\/p>\n
\tSupport of business revenue growth objectives by developing and implementing strategies to meet or exceed sales targets.
\n\tSecure deals at competitive pricing, balancing client budgetary considerations with company profitability objectives.
\n\tOversee the implementation of projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget to maximise revenue and optimise costs.
\n\tEvaluate the financial impact of proposed solutions by analysing potential cost savings or revenue increases associated with various initiatives to ensure they deliver a positive return on investment.
\n\tTrack and report on the ROI by regularly assessing the financial benefits achieved compared to the resources invested within scope of control.
\n\tIdentify and assess financial risks through creating awareness of potential financial risks associated with project delays, technology implementation costs etc. and develop mitigation strategies.<\/p>\n
Minimum requirements<\/p>\n
\tBCom degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance or equivalent qualification.
\n\tMembership to SAPICS (advantageous)
\n\t5\u20137 years of experience in a procurement or financial environment
\n\tMinimum 5 years\u2019 experience in the role of Procurement Manager
\n\tExperience in setting up a Procurement Department (advantageous)
\n\tProven experience in designing and implementing procurement processes
\n\tTrack record of successfully negotiating complex, high-value projects
\n\tExperience in a technical project purchasing department (3\u20135 years preferred)
\n\tAbility to navigate ambiguous situations and manage diverse stakeholder interest
\n\tNegotiation skills
\n\tStrong analytical skills<\/p>\n
