RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n
\tGeneral support to the Deputy Dean: Research and Postgraduate Studies in matters related to postgraduate students\u00a0
\n\tCoordinate and assist during postgraduate support sessions\u00a0
\n\tTrack postgraduate students\u2019 performance and direct them to available\u00a0support structures at the University\u00a0of Pretoria\u00a0such as finance, academic support, counselling\u00a0and other services\u00a0available
\n\tAssist during the annual Faculty Research Legotla which serves as a platform for postgraduate students to showcase their research
\n\tProvide academic advising services to postgraduate students in the Faculty of Education on study paths and associated career options
\n\tContribute to academic skills development sessions with postgraduate students on topics such as academic writing, time management, goal setting and study skills\u00a0
\n\tCreate a data base to monitor registered postgraduate student numbers and postgraduate student progress
\n\tAssist with the establishment of holistic student engagement and support in the Faculty of Education
\n\tIdentify \u2018at risk\u2019 students and conduct special individual support sessions\/tutorials with them and manage data on student interactions.<\/p>\n
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:<\/p>\n
\tHonours degree in Educational Psychology or Psychology or Social Work
\n\tThree years\u2019 experience as a tutor, mentor or advisor at a tertiary institution
\n\tExperience in data capturing.\u00a0<\/p>\n
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:<\/p>\n
\tMaster’s degree in Educational Psychology or Psychology or Social Work
\n\tExperience in student counselling or career counselling
\n\tExperience in working with university students in an orientation, advising, retention, student life, residence life, service learning or closely related field
\n\tKnowledge of the UP-campus ecology
\n\tThe ability to handle a variety of complex tasks simultaneously, meet stringent deadlines and work under pressure for extended periods of time.<\/p>\n
