Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tUndertake aquatic biodiversity surveys, habitat assessments, and water quality monitoring.
\n\tIdentify, record, and analyse freshwater and\/or estuarine species and habitats.
\n\tContribute to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Basic Assessments, and related environmental reports.
\n\tAnalyse ecological data and produce scientifically robust, clear, and concise reports.
\n\tAssist in developing aquatic ecosystem management and rehabilitation plans.
\n\tEnsure compliance with environmental legislation, policies, and best-practice guidelines.
\n\tLiaise with clients, regulatory authorities, and stakeholders as required.
\n\tExecute field work according to accepted EcoClassification Methodologies (incl. MIRAI and FRAI), as well as other international best-practice standards.
\n\tConduct aquatic biomonitoring studies and support the baseline aquatic biodiversity assessments to inform impact assessments, management and\/or monitoring plans.
\n\tParticipate in survey design, proposal scoping and costing, and business development and marketing activities.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tBSc Hons \/ MSc degree in Aquatic Health or similar.
\n\tSASS accredited
\n\t2\u20134 years\u2019 proven experience in aquatic ecological assessments, preferably within a consultancy environment.
\n\tStrong taxonomic skills for aquatic macroinvertebrates, fish, and\/or aquatic plants.
\n\tProficiency in field sampling techniques and ecological data analysis.
\n\tBasic understanding and practical experience with environmental legislation and National Water Act.
\n\tGreat report writing skills and ability describe the issues and propose solutions.
\n\tAble to work with a 20\u00a0kg fish shocker (Smithroot\/Halltech) in flowing systems.
\n\tMust be a strong swimmer.
\n\tValid driver\u2019s licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork.
\n\tRegistration or eligibility for registration with SACNASP or equivalent.<\/p>\n
