Description<\/p>\n
\tEnsure that the flight is conducted safely and efficiently in a timely manner.
\n\tMonitor the flight path and systems of the aircraft.
\n\tPerform checks and procedures before, during and after each flight.
\n\tCommunicate with internal departments, external service providers and passengers.
\n\tNavigate and operate the aircraft inflight.
\n\tEnsure compliance with regulations and company policies and procedures.
\n\tUphold the company core competitive edge (i.e., excellent customer service).
\n\tSubmit accurate and comprehensive administrative documentation.
\n\tIdentify any safety threats and work collaboratively with the Captain and Operations towards a solution.
\n\tIn the event of the incapacitation of the Captain, the Junior First Officer will assume command.<\/p>\n
The Junior First Officer shall take all reasonable steps to:<\/p>\n
\tStay updated with the applicable SACAA and international aviation laws, and company Operation manual\/s.
\n\tMaintain familiarity with such provisions of the company Operations Manual as are necessary to fulfil the required function.
\n\tAssist the Captain as requested concerning operational and administrative duties in relation to the flight.
\n\tAssist the Captain in upholding a high standard of crew discipline, behavior, and personal appearance.<\/p>\n
The Junior First Officer shall:<\/p>\n
\tcarry out such duties concerning the flight, in accordance with FlySafair Standard Operating Procedures, including procedures, limitations and performance relating to the specific aircraft type. Furthermore, the Captain can allocate any additional duties as required.
\n\tConfirm the safe navigation of the aircraft, maintaining a continuous and independent check upon both the geographical position of the aircraft and its safe terrain clearance.
\n\tVolunteer such advice, information and assistance to the Captain as may contribute favourably towards the safe and efficient conduct of the flight.
\n\tMaintain a high personal standard of discipline, conduct and appearance as a representative of the Company.
\n\tSupport the Captain in the development and maintenance of a high standard of professional expertise and morale amongst the crew.
\n\tEnsure compliance with the companies operations manual at all times.
\n\tThe Junior First Officer must be fully aware of the planned flight route, contents of briefing sheets, and the forecast with conditions and runway states at the destination and alternate aerodromes.
\n\tPerform all checks outlined in the Operations Manual and fill out all required documents accordingly.
\n\tWork collaboratively with the Captain to review all documents and information necessary to make an informed decision regarding fuel selection, alternates, and any restrictions that may be present on the flight.
\n\tPerform or monitor the execution of all normal, abnormal and emergency checklists in the manner specified in the Operations Manual, FCOM and FCTM to ensure that all procedures are accurately completed.
\n\tMonitor all aspects of the flight, checking that correct procedures and techniques are used, cross-checking all flight instrument indications, especially altitude\/height, speed and heading, and advising the Captain immediately if:
\n\tthe aircraft deviates from the planned flight path, or if the pilot observes the onset of a hazardous situation, or if any abnormal instrument reading, warning light, or indicator is detected.
\n\tConduct R\/T communications as and when required.
\n\tEnsure all post-flight procedures are completed as per the OM and FCOM.
\n\tSubmit all relevant documentation and\/or reports i.e. IQSMS.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tGrade 12 or Equivalent (Essential);
\n\tSACAA Commercial (Essential);
\n\tClass 1 SACAA Medical (Essential);
\n\tSACAA ATPL (Preferred);
\n\tType rated on Boeing (Advantageous);
\n\tMust have a minimum of 1000 total flying hours and a minimum of 500 Twin Turbine (P1\/2) (10 000kg)\u00a0 (Essential);
\n\tWilling to sign applicable training bond\/s;
\n\tNo criminal record;
\n\tOwn transport and RSA Driver\u2019s License;
\n\tSA Citizen with proof of Identity;
\n\tValid RSA Passport;
\n\tMust be willing to work irregular hours on a roster;
\n\tMust have detailed knowledge and understanding of National Aviation regulations such as SACAA, ICAO;
\n\tKnowledge of Doc 8168 (Essential);
\n\tKnowledge of Commercial and Airline Transport Pilots licensing content.\u00a0 ;
