Main Purpose of Job<\/p>\n
\tTo lead the design, development, and governance of the company\u2019s enterprise data infrastructure, transitioning from the current SSIS-based ETL environment ta modern, scalable, Azure-based cloud data warehouse. This role is strategic and collaborative, requiring close engagement with business leaders, BI developers, analysts, and IT teams tensure data solutions are business-aligned, governance-compliant, and ready for advanced analytics. \u00a0As a senior member of the team, the role will mentor junior data engineers, influence architectural decisions, and champion best practices across the organisation.<\/p>\n
EDUCATION
\nMandatory:<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field.<\/p>\n
Preferred:<\/p>\n
\tMaster\u2019s degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
\n\tBusiness Management or Project Management certification tsupport stakeholder engagement and project oversight.
\n\tAzure Data Engineer Associate or equivalent cloud certification.
\n\tData governance certification (DAMA, DCAM, or equivalent).<\/p>\n
Technical Experience
\nMandatory:<\/p>\n
\t5+ years in data engineering, with experience in data warehouse design and development.
\n\tStrong hands-on experience with SSIS for ETL processes.
\n\tProven expertise in Azure Data Platform components (Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Database, Data Lake Storage).
\n\tStrong SQL skills (T-SQL preferred).
\n\tExperience implementing data governance principles, including data quality frameworks, security\/access controls, and metadata management.
\n\tExperience with data modeling (Kimball\/Star Schema\/Snowflake).
\n\tProficient in performance tuning and troubleshooting data processes.<\/p>\n
Preferred:<\/p>\n
\tExperience with Python or other scripting languages for data processing and automation.
\n\tKnowledge of Azure Purview or other data catalogue solutions.
\n\tKnowledge of Azure DevOps, CI\/CD pipelines for data solutions.
\n\tPower BI integration experience with Azure datasets.<\/p>\n

\tLead the architectural design and implementation of the new Azure-based data warehouse.
\n\tOversee the optimisation of the existing SSIS-based ETL environment during the transition phase.

Data Governance & Compliance<\/p>\n
\tOwn the data governance framework, ensuring standards for data quality, security, lineage, and access control are embedded in all solutions.
\n\tPartner with compliance and legal teams tmeet regulatory requirements for data storage and processing.
\n\tChampion the use of data cataloguing and metadata management tools.<\/p>\n
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement<\/p>\n
\tWork directly with senior stakeholders across business units ttranslate needs intactionable technical solutions.
\n\tServe as the primary point of contact between the BI team, engineering, and external vendors for data infrastructure matters.
\n\tFacilitate workshops, architectural reviews, and cross-team solution design sessions.<\/p>\n
Technical Delivery & Mentorship<\/p>\n
\tLead the build, testing, and deployment of robust ETL\/ELT pipelines for multi-source integration.
\n\tEnsure smooth migration of historical and real-time data tthe new warehouse with minimal downtime.
\n\tMentor and support junior and mid-level engineers in technical best practices and solution delivery.<\/p>\n
Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement<\/p>\n
\tImplement platform monitoring solutions ttrack and optimise performance.
\n\tDrive continuous improvement in architecture, tooling, and governance processes.<\/p>\n
Physical & Technical Competencies<\/p>\n
\tAbility to design and optimise complex ETL\/ELT workflows.
\n\tStrong understanding of data governance frameworks and compliance requirements.
\n\tProficient in working with large-scale data sets and high-volume data pipelines.
\n\tStrong problem-solving skills with a focus on automation and efficiency.
\n\tProficient in version control tools (e.g., Git).
\n\tExpertise in optimising data platforms for scale and performance.
\n\tAbility tmanage competing priorities across multiple projects.<\/p>\n
