\tMHR is seeking experienced Phlebotomists to work at a private hospital in Pretoria (Gauteng). This is an opportunity to work part-time shifts, with a commencement date beginning\/mid-November 2025.

\tPlease be aware that this position is for part-time shifts, and as such, you cannot be permanently employed. You must also reside in Stellenbosch or the surrounding areas.
\n\tProfessional Nurse, Enrolled Nurse or Phlebotomy Technician with a certificate in Phlebotomy Techniques
\n\tRegistered with SANC or with HPCSA as a Medical Technician in the category of Phlebotomy
\n\tAt least 1-2 years of work experience as a Phlebotomist.
\n\tIt is recommended to be vaccinated against Hepatitis B. If your application is successful, you will be required to get a Hep B vaccination.
\n\tSound knowledge of phlebotomy procedures and processes, relevant statutory and regulatory requirements
\n\tExperience in drawing blood from paediatric patients
\n\tArterial blood gases draw experience
\n\tBasic life support trained
\n\tPatient assessment and counselling skills
\n\tRisk identification skills
\n\tSound knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) protocols
\n\tStrong interpersonal skills and exceptional bedside manner
\n\tWell-presented and professional communication skills
\n\tAdministrative skills and attention to detail
\n\tProficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)<\/p>\n

\nJob Summary:<\/p>\n
\tTo draw blood, or other samples\/specimens, from patients for various testing purposes in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
\n\tPerform a variety of routine and complex blood and specimen collecting procedures in line with professional standards and regulatory requirements to ensure safe patient care
\n\tConduct pre-and post-test counselling to patients and family members to explain blood draw procedures and answer any questions about the process
\n\tIdentify, prevent and report risks to ensure patient safety and follow all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain a sterile work area
\n\tPerform administrative tasks to ensure correct and accurate recording and processing of patient and clinical information
\n\tEnsure that all utilised stock is accurately recorded and charged
\n\tBuild and maintain collaborative working relationships as part of the hospital emergency centre’s multi-disciplinary team<\/p>\n
