\nROLE PURPOSE<\/p>\n
\tThis role is responsible to oversee and optimize our seed production operations in the summer rainfall region. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the production of high-quality cereal and field crop seeds across various seed generations.<\/p>\n
ACCOUNTABILITIES<\/p>\n
Quality\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tProduce seed within required standards & defined processes.
\n\tQuality of seed comply to Certification requirements of SANSOR & internal standards.
\n\tCollect feedback on quality and Service as seen by the customers; correct issues and prevent recurrence.
\n\tPhysical quality as per agreed standards.<\/p>\n
Volume<\/p>\n
\tContracting of hectares to enable delivery of the required seed volumes per crop.
\n\tAvailability : Deliver the agreed volumes as per production plan.\u00a0
\n\tParent seed, where applicable, available in time at the agreed quantities and within quality and purity specifications<\/p>\n
Cost Management\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tExpenditures to stay within the budget limits.
\n\tFull support and execution of productivity projects.<\/p>\n
Grower Relations and Contracting<\/p>\n
\tIdentify, evaluate, and select suitable seed growers in the region
\n\tNegotiate and establish contracts with seed growers, ensuring favourable terms for both parties
\n\tMaintain strong, positive relationships with contracted growers<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Management<\/p>\n
\tBuild and maintain solid relationships with internal stakeholders, including research, quality control, and sales teams<\/p>\n
Technical Expertise and Support<\/p>\n
\tProvide expert agronomic advice and support to seed growers throughout the production cycle
\n\tStay updated on the latest agronomic practices, seed technologies, and industry trends
\n\tConduct field inspections and monitor crop progress to ensure adherence to quality standards
\n\tFull support of digital harmonization and digitalisation efforts across the region<\/p>\n
Production Planning and Reporting<\/p>\n
\tDevelop and execute production plans aligned with sales volume requirements and orders.
\n\tMonitor and report on production progress, yields, and quality metrics
\n\tIdentify and address any issues or challenges in the production process<\/p>\n
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance<\/p>\n
\tEnsure all operations comply with Syngenta HSE policies, guidelines, and statutory requirements
\n\tReport HSE observations, near misses, and status reports<\/p>\n
Qualifications
\nKNOWDGE, EXPERIENCE, CAPABILITIES<\/p>\n
Critical qualification<\/p>\n
\tRelevant Diploma or Degree in Agriculture.
\n\t5 years seed production experience.
\n\tMinimum of 5 years of experience in seed production or related agricultural field
\n\tStrong knowledge of cereal, soybean, sunflower, and corn agronomy
\n\tExcellent communication and negotiation skills
\n\tProven ability to build and maintain professional relationships
\n\tValid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently within the region
\n\tSANSOR Authorised inspector and Sampler<\/p>\n
Critical knowledge<\/p>\n
\tExperience in contract negotiation and management
\n\tFamiliarity with seed certification processes and standards
\n\tKnowledge of agricultural regulations and best practices in the region
\n\tProficiency in data analysis and reporting tools
\n\tStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
\n\tGood communication and interpersonal skills
\n\tIdentify opportunities, recognise threats and to be pro-active (problem identification and solving)
\n\tMust be able to work independently
\n\tInnovative mindset and results driven
\n\tEnglish and Afrikaans is a pre-requisite to communicate with stakeholders.
