\tA leading insurance company is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Actuarial Assistant to join its short-term insurance team. This role is ideal for a professional who is TASSA registered, has successfully completed all A-series exams, and brings hands-on actuarial experience in the short-term insurance sector.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tSupport the development, maintenance, and enhancement of actuarial models within the short-term insurance environment.
\n\tConduct data analysis and experience investigations to inform reserving, pricing, and risk assessment.
\n\tAssist in developing and validating assumptions used in short-term insurance pricing models.
\n\tPrepare actuarial reports, analyses, and documentation to support decision-making across underwriting, finance, and risk functions.
\n\tProvide actuarial input in the design and pricing of innovative, customer-focused short-term insurance products.
\n\tContribute to regulatory reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with frameworks such as SAM and IFRS 17.
\n\tCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including underwriting and product development, to ensure actuarial insights are effectively integrated into business strategies.
\n\tMonitor actual versus expected results and provide recommendations for adjustments where needed.
\n\tParticipate in actuarial research and development projects aimed at improving modelling techniques and efficiency.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tTASSA registered with the Actuarial Society of South Africa.
\n\tCompletion of all A-series exams (Core technical exams).
\n\tMinimum of 1\u20133 years\u2019 actuarial experience, preferably in short-term insurance.
\n\tSolid understanding of South African insurance regulations, including SAM and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles.
\n\tStrong technical and analytical skills with proficiency in actuarial tools such as Excel\/VBA, R, Python, SQL, or Prophet.
\n\tAbility to interpret actuarial results and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
\n\tKeen attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.<\/p>\n
