Job Purpose<\/p>\n
\tResponsible for overseeing and managing electrical engineering projects, ensuring that designs meet industry standards and client requirements. This role requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tPerform and oversee Electrical engineering activities for various industrial projects in the private and government sectors to safely deliver on all company operational plans during the project execution phase.
\n\tEngineering design in accordance with established standards and codes of practice.
\n\tReviewing technical documentation and defining electrical engineering requirements.
\n\tCarrying out technical evaluations, preparation of specifications for electrical infrastructure and installations.
\n\tCarry out feasibility and electrical power system studies.
\n\tAttend factory acceptance tests and provide input to vendor\u2019s test documentation.
\n\tManage and assist with planting electrical equipment and system installation and commissioning.
\n\tAccountability for quality, risk management, financial performance, scope management and client satisfaction in all projects undertaken.
\n\tLiaise with the client to ensure that the agreed designs are in accordance with the agreed requirements.
\n\tRepresentation at client and professional meetings with the ability to present work and engage in technical conversation in a professional manner.<\/p>\n

Education<\/p>\n
\tMatric
\n\tBSc\/BEng in Electrical Engineering
\n\tProfessional registration as a Pr Electrical Engineer (ECSA)<\/p>\n
Experience<\/p>\n
\tMinimum 8\u201310 years of post-registration experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in a consulting, utility, or municipal environment.<\/p>\n
Proven experience in:<\/p>\n
\tMetering systems for Small Power Users (SPUs) and Large Power Users (LPUs)
\n\tRevenue assurance and loss control strategies
\n\tMetering audits and compliance assessments
\n\tGreen or alternative energy experience beneficial<\/p>\n
Strong understanding of:<\/p>\n
\tAdvanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)
\n\tSTS (Standard Transfer Specification) and DLMS\/COSEM protocols
\n\tMunicipal and ESKOM metering standards (e.g. NRS 057, SANS 474, IEC 62052\/62053)
\n\tTariff structures and load profiling for municipalities and bulk users<\/p>\n
Sector-Specific Knowledge<\/p>\n
\tDemonstrated experience working with or for municipalities and\/or ESKOM
\n\tFamiliarity with the Municipal Systems Act and Municipal Finance Management Act as they relate to service delivery, infrastructure planning, and procurement
\n\tUnderstanding of municipal credit control, service agreements, and revenue protection frameworks<\/p>\n
Professional Affiliations & Accreditations<\/p>\n
Active membership with:<\/p>\n
\tSARPA (South African Revenue Protection Association)
\n\tAMEU (Association of Municipal Electricity Utilities)
\n\tParticipation in SARPA\/AMEU technical committees or working groups is advantageous<\/p>\n
Systems & Tools Proficiency<\/p>\n
\tMetering data platforms and analytics tools
\n\tSCADA systems and GIS-based asset management
\n\tMunicipal billing systems and integration with CRM platforms<\/p>\n
Project & Leadership Skills<\/p>\n
\tExperience leading technical teams in metering audits, compliance reviews, and municipal engagements
\n\tAbility to interface with municipal finance, technical, and service delivery departments
\n\tStrong stakeholder engagement skills, particularly with municipal officials, ESKOM representatives, and regulatory bodies<\/p>\n
Communication & Compliance<\/p>\n
\tExcellent report writing and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences
\n\tAbility to interpret and apply regulatory frameworks and technical standards
\n\tValid driver\u2019s license and willingness to travel to project sites across South Africa<\/p>\n
