We are in search of an Assistant Catering Manager to join our Healthcare space. In this role you would be required to assist the manager in the day-to-day management tasks of providing a catering service to the required standards.<\/p>\n
Duties & Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tAssist in the production of meals, snacks and functions, paying particular attention to the quality and presentation thereof.
\n\tEnsure that all tasks and jobs are satisfactorily completed, assuming these duties when necessary.
\n\tAssist with lunch service.
\n\tAssist with the planning and costing of menus.
\n\tPlace orders with suppliers.
\n\tAssist with the completion of all administrative returns, salary variations, etc.
\n\tIssue stock and received goods, checking quality, quantity and price, also ensuring that these stocks are correctly stored and rotated.
\n\tMake regular inspections to ensure that company and statutory hygiene standards are maintained.
\n\tCarry out regular On-the-Job Training sessions, be constantly aware of staff who have potential for development and ensure that these people are highlighted for promotion.
\n\tBe fully conversant with HACCP and NOSA regulations and report any defect to the manager.
\n\tBe sensitive to the needs of subordinate staff and report any problems or breaches of discipline to the manager.
\n\tBe security conscious at all times and ensure storerooms, safes and lockable areas are secure.
\n\tAssist with stocktaking on a regular basis.
\n\tAttend meetings and training courses as required.
\n\tAssume control of the restaurant and use own initiative in the absence of the Manager.
\n\tTake part in catering exhibitions, thus gaining further knowledge and experience.<\/p>\n
Skills and Competencies:<\/p>\n
\tMust enjoy working with people.
\n\tMust have good organisational skills.
\n\tBe able to pay attention to detail.
\n\tHave good interpersonal and supervisory skills.
\n\tBe able to work irregular hours, on weekends and public holidays.
\n\tMust have good communication skills.
\n\tMust have good grooming and presentation skills.
\n\tMust be comfortable working with computers
\n\tMust able to negotiate, organise, delegate and work under pressure.<\/p>\n
Qualifications:<\/p>\n
\t+2 years\u2019 experience in the catering and \/ or restaurant industry on a supervisory level.
\n\tMust have completed at least a Matric
\n\tPrevious experience in an Healthcare environment would be highly advantageous.<\/p>\n
