Role Purpose\/Business Unit:<\/p>\n
\tThe Specialist Software Engineer role is based within the Technology Business Unit.
\n\tThe role of the Specialist Software Engineer is to be responsible for the development of new and existing products and shared microservices by creating prototypes and designing and building modules and solutions in iterative agile cycles.
\n\tDevelop, maintain, and optimize the business outcome. This role is responsible for estimating user and technical stories, designing and developing code, writing and executing unit and integration tests, and supporting testing of deliverables against the user and technical story acceptance tests<\/p>\n
Your responsibilities will include:<\/p>\n
\tEstimate user and technical stories to help inform and prioritize the backlog.
\n\tDesign modules according to user stories and technical stories.
\n\tDevelop solutions according to designs and deploy using continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
\n\tDevelop and execute unit and integration tests, support testing against the user and technical story acceptance tests.
\n\tIntegrate the image-scanning and signing process to prevent vulnerabilities as part of an enterprise\u2019s continuous integration\/continuous delivery (CI\/CD) process.
\n\tEnsure applications are scanned during the build and run phases of the software development life cycle, emphasizing the scanning and identification of open-source components, libraries, and frameworks.
\n\tSet up mandatory access controls, ensure separation of duties, and institute a secrets management policy.
\n\tDeploy security products that provide whitelisting, behavioral monitoring, and anomaly detection to prevent malicious activity.
\n\tImplement strong version control for code and components and by training the developers and QA teams on secure coding practices.
\n\tDeploy infrastructure automation tools to ensure that infrastructure provisioning and management are automated and streamlined to account for the dynamic nature of containerized workloads.
\n\tBuild and test applications in production-like environments by integrating DevOps toolchains with Kubernetes-based container orchestration tools.
\n\tFocus on instrumenting applications to enable observability. This will involve deploying tools for additional logging, metrics collections, and distributed tracing.
\n\tManage incidents and problems as level two and level three support.<\/p>\n
The ideal candidate for this role will have:<\/p>\n
\tMatric\/Grade 12 is essential.
\n\t3-year degree\/diploma bachelor\u2019s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or another related field is essential.
\n\tCloud Development certification (eg. AWS Certified Developer) would be ideal.
\n\t3- 5 years of relevant experience in programming and systems analysis applying agile frameworks.
\n\tExperience working with agile methodologies, such as SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, XP, LSD, and FDD.
\n\tStrong knowledge of software architecture principles.
\n\tExperience working in Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment environments preferred.
\n\tExperience and knowledge of Big Data and Analytics technologies preferred.
\n\tExperience working in cloud-native (private cloud eg. Openshift and public cloud. Eg AWS, Azure Google Cloud) environments is preferred.
\n\tCompetency in UX principles and practices preferred.
\n\t3 years technical knowledge and experience of Java and web and mobile based (IOS and Android) development technologies and suites required and associated frameworks (Essential)
\n\tAWS Developer Associate Certification
\n\tExperience with SQL and NoSQL Databases. MySQL, PostgreSQL & MongoDB big advantage
\n\tStrong React, NodeJS – Typescript Knowledge is a must
\n\tExperience with NodeJS frameworks is a must (for example: express)
\n\tExperience with Node\/Graph QL & REST
\n\tBeing skilled with common front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JS, TypeScript
\n\tExperience in one or more relevant front-end frameworks such as React, NodeJS.
\n\tExperience with Kubernetes, Docker and cloud technologies (AWS or AZURE)
\n\tCI\/CD Integration experience a big advantage<\/p>\n
