Role Outline<\/p>\n
\tTo take full operational, commercial and budgetary responsibility for the management of \u00a0the warehouse. Ensure performance targets are met and exceeded. To lead by maintaining a high standard of ethics, compliance with company policies and operating procedures. To contribute to the development of strategy of the business as part of the team. To maximise the performance of the operation by directing the daily, weekly and monthly activities. Providing leadership, motivation, training and development of the workplace, executing against customer requirements, operational performance and “making DHL a great place to work”. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
Key areas of responsibility include:<\/p>\n
Delivery of key financial performance measures<\/p>\n
\tManaging Operations within the budget as set by the Client
\n\tMeet and exceed operational service levels.
\n\tAchievement of contractual Key Performance indicators.<\/p>\n
Drive and develop team culture.<\/p>\n
\tEncourage and reward constructive internal competitiveness to the benefit of client, DHL and individual employees.<\/p>\n
Manage Human Resources<\/p>\n
\tManagement of team, ensure appropriate levels of Human resources to meet business needs, performance issues, training and development, employee productivity and recruitment and retention of staff.
\n\tEnsure appropriate staffing levels
\n\tEnsure high level of competence in staff
\n\tManage Industrial relations by ensuring that appropriate disciplinary actions is taken.<\/p>\n
Manage Relationships<\/p>\n
\tOperationally manage relationship with Trade Union, conduct negotiations within budget levels maintain an healthy, positive relationship.
\n\tCompliance with statutory and company policies and procedures<\/p>\n
Ensure team compliance with statutory and company policies on:<\/p>\n
\tHealth and Safety
\n\tEmployment Equity
\n\tLabour relations
\n\tLegislative
\n\tEnvironmental issues
\n\tIncluding regular monitoring to ensure these areas are maintained at a high level of compliance.<\/p>\n

Team Building and Moral Management<\/p>\n
\tEnsure compliance to SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures)
\n\tResponsibility for all issues relating to Health & Safety and the Environment
\n\tMaximise accuracy, productivity, and space utilization
\n\tEnsure daily or weekly workload planning and volume forecasting routines are accomplished
\n\tMaintained stock control procedures and continuously review to enable the daily reconciliation of theoretical and physical stock
\n\tMaintain appropriate information \/ reporting systems to monitor site performance on an ongoing basis<\/p>\n
Qualifications\/Experience<\/p>\n
\tGrade 12 \/ Matric \u2013 Essential
\n\tEducated to university degree level or equivalent professional qualifications in conjunction with relevant experience will also be considered
\n\t3-5 years\u2019 experience of working in Warehouse\/Logistics environment
\n\t3 years\u2019 experience in a managerial role<\/p>\n
Skills\/Competencies<\/p>\n
\tGood written and communication skills and understand basic arithmetical principles
\n\tPerson should have a sound knowledge and understanding of a PC and the inherent controls. Proficiency in Windows, Excel, Word and Power Point.
\n\tExcellent interpersonal, leadership, motivation and planning skills
\n\tAbility to co-ordinate all staff and assets in warehouse department
\n\tPerson should know what products are handled by the Company
\n\tPerson needs good understanding of distribution and transport methods
\n\tPerson should be able to enforce health and safety procedures and identify hazards
\n\tKnowledge of clients requirements and customer needs
\n\tPerson should have a good understanding of quality as a key value
\n\tAwareness of importance of security
\n\tOperational knowledge and understanding of service delivery
\n\tAbility to understand instructions and to accurately carry out instructions – must listen effectively and convey ideas logically
\n\tReact to customers in a courteous and professional manner and maintain at the highest level
\n\tPerson should be able to propose different solutions to problems – must be able to act of their own without being urged to do so
\n\tKnowledge of logistics market trends, opportunities and challenges
\n\tCommercial breadth, i.e. general management experience
\n\tStrategic tools\/techniques approaches and strategy determination<\/p>\n
