Job Purpose<\/p>\n
\tTo provide legal services, including intellectual property (IP) support and advice to all TIA Business Units in respect of TIA projects\/programs.<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
\tBachelor degree in Engineering (Chemical) or Bachelor degree in Science .
\n\tA Law degree
\n\tAdmission as an Attorney or Advocate
\n\tAt least four (4) years\u2019 post admission experience.
\n\tTwo (2) years\u2019 experience in an intellectual property environment and\/or prior exposure to the technology innovation environment.
\n\tExperience in Local and International Intellectual Property trends in relevant industries.
\n\tLitigation experience.
\n\tLaws, legislation and compliance requirements for the various operational aspects of TIA.
\n\tSound Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (Act No. 1 of 1999).<\/p>\n

Duties and Responsibilities\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0
\nFinancial Perspective<\/p>\n
\tContribute towards saving for TIA by limiting operational costs, also complying with the National Treasure Cost Containment Measures (NTCM).<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Management<\/p>\n
\tParticipate in establishing cooperative customer relationships with stakeholders internally and externally.
\n\tProvide quality services that meets corporate programme and project needs of TIA.
\n\tRepresent the Head: Legal Services on various committees, as may be required.<\/p>\n
Internal Processes<\/p>\n
\tPerform Intellectual Property (IP) due diligence on TIA\u2019s projects and programs and issue report on outcomes.
\n\tDraft and\/or review contracts for TIA operations, TIA projects and TIA programs, also focusing IP clauses.
\n\tDraft legal opinions.
\n\tProvide input in the formulation of legal policies, guidelines, frameworks and business processes.
\n\tProvide input in the review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the Legal Services BU.
\n\tCapture all legal information relating to TIA operations on the applicable systems.
\n\tProduce workflow management status reports, as and when required.
\n\tAssist with quality assurance of work produced by the Legal Advisors.
\n\tIdentify and report on potential legal risks.
\n\tIdentify and implement development opportunities to ensure continuous improvement of work effectiveness and efficiency.
\n\tIdentify root causes of delays in the processes and implement measures to address the delays.
\n\tProvide support and assistance to other Legal Advisors to achieve their milestones.<\/p>\n
Governance and Compliance<\/p>\n
\tParticipate in the internal and external audit exercise and resolution of all audit matters in the Business Unit.
\n\tEnsure compliance with all TIA\u2019s policies, frameworks, guidelines and systems (performance management, HR, finance, Stakeholder information, fund management, reporting, etc).
\n\tProactively identify and address internal and external risks to protect the organisation.<\/p>\n
Learning and Growth<\/p>\n
\tMentor other Legal Advisors to transfer knowledge and skill.
\n\tAttend work-related, self-development courses including training (both external and internal) seminars, conferences, webinars and workshops.<\/p>\n
