IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to \u00a0 develop this \u201cmine of the future\u201d. Suitable candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:<\/p>\n
\tA National Diploma or B.Eng. Degree in Civil Engineering
\n\tProfessionally registered as a Civil Engineer or a Geotechnical Engineer (advantageous)
\n\tMaster\u2019s degree in Geotechnical Engineering will be advantageous
\n\tValid South African Driving License.<\/p>\n
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tMin 8+ years specialising in tailings and geotechnical engineering
\n\tProven experience in the mining industry
\n\tAbility to analyse and understand metallurgical, Mechanical & Civil engineering information
\n\tProficient in relevant software applications related to the job
\n\tEffective communication and interpersonal skills
\n\tAbility to work independently and collaboratively across multiple departments<\/p>\n
Your successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:<\/p>\n
\tUnderstand and execute accountabilities of legal appointment under relevant South African legislation.
\n\tObtain all necessary permits and approvals for the construction and management of the TSF
\n\tDevelopment of SOP\u2019s and a proactive approach to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements of Ivanplats and South Africa\u2019s statutory requirements
\n\tEnsure that the required tailings deposition infrastructure, methods, and operations, as well as embankment design work, are in accordance with Ivanplats\u2019 operational requirements.
\n\tEfficient and effective management of Contractors to ensure equipment availability and safe operations
\n\tAccountability for all aspect of the performance and management of the TSF & Water Dam facilities
\n\tCompiling all required reporting including daily, weekly and monthly monitoring reports
\n\tMonitor project progress and identify areas for improvement, implementing corrective actions if necessary.
\n\tCommunicate all design-related decisions and outcomes to the Ivanplats management and advise on any necessary changes.
\n\tEnsure that access routes are properly maintained and report any required remedial actions
\n\tDevelop a comprehensive risk management plan for the TSF construction, identifying potential risks and mitigation strategies.
\n\tOversee the use of field instrumentation such as settlement gauges, piezometers, and inclinometers to monitor ground conditions.\u00a0
\n\tEstablish clear communication protocols for all stakeholders involved in the TSF construction and operation.
\n\tApply the Ivanplats principles in all team interactions and take personal responsibility for your safety and others to ensure zero harm and the elimination of fatalities and loss-time Injuries in accordance with the Ivanplats Standards and Mine Health and Safety Act.<\/p>\n
Additional Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tParticipate in post-construction reviews to identify lessons learned and improve future TSF projects.
\n\tAssist in building ground models and interpreting geotechnical data for project purposes<\/p>\n
