THE JOB AT A GLANCE<\/p>\n
\tAs the Pension Team Leader, you will report into the Welfare and Pensions Manager.
\n\tYou will oversee and coordinate the pension administration team to ensure accurate, efficient processing and compliant management of pension benefits under the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA) and Value-Added Products pension benefits for injured workers, widows, and children.
\n\tYour role requires leadership, technical expertise in pension fund administration and strong stakeholder engagement to maintain service excellence for beneficiaries and regulatory compliance.<\/p>\n
WHAT WILL YOU DO?<\/p>\n
Team Supervision & Workflow Management<\/p>\n
\tLead, supervise and mentor the pensions administration team
\n\tAllocate and monitor workloads to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met, assign tasks, oversee performance and ensure deadlines are achieved
\n\tWork closely with finance and medical management teams to ensure aligned and integrated processes
\n\tPrepare reports for management and contribute to audits and regulatory compliance
\n\tConduct team meetings and training sessions to enhance compliance and service delivery.<\/p>\n
Pension Administration Oversight<\/p>\n
\tReview and approve pension calculations, reconciliations and benefit schedules
\n\tEnsure accurate processing of pension annuity payments (disability, widow and child pensions)
\n\tVerify calculations and documentation before approvals
\n\tLiaise with pensioners, beneficiaries and other stakeholders to resolve escalated queries professionally.<\/p>\n
Compliance & Quality Control<\/p>\n
\tEnsure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Pension Funds Act, COIDA and other applicable compensation laws and internal polices
\n\tConduct regular audits to minimize errors in pension payments
\n\tMaintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative changes affecting pensions.<\/p>\n
Customer Service & Stakeholder Engagement<\/p>\n
\tHandle complex pensioner inquiries and complaints
\n\tLiaise with pensioners, employers and government bodies as needed
\n\tEnsure a high standard of service delivery to pension beneficiaries.<\/p>\n
Reporting & Process Improvement<\/p>\n
\tGenerate performance reports on payment accuracy, turnaround times and team productivity
\n\tIdentify inefficiencies and propose improvements in pension administration processes
\n\tAssist the Welfare and Pensions Manager in implementing best practices
\n\tDrive continuous process improvements and efficiencies within the pensions management.<\/p>\n

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Experience<\/p>\n
\tGrade 12 qualification\/Matric Certificate
\n\tRE1 (Regulatory Examination 1) Certificate
\n\tBachelor\u2019s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field
\n\t5 or more years\u2019 experience in pension or employee benefits administration
\n\tMinimum of 3 years\u2019 experience in pensions administration, preferably under COIDA
\n\tPrevious supervisory\/team leadership experience is advantageous<\/p>\n

\tStrong leadership and people management skills- ability to motivate and guide a team
\n\tFinancial acumen \u2013 understanding of annuity payments and payroll systems
\n\tIn-depth understanding of pension fund processes, policies, and compliance requirements
\n\tAnalytical and numerical skills with attention to detail
\n\tExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
\n\tAbility to manage pressure, deadlines, and multiple priorities
\n\tProficiency in pension administration systems and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).<\/p>\n
