Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tConduct both simple and complex microbiological tests independently.
\n\tVerify and interpret test results against known standards and reference data.
\n\tEnsure laboratory efficiency through proactive task management and process improvement.
\n\tAdhere to departmental turnaround times (TATs) and escalate delays to the supervisor.
\n\tClean and disinfect laboratory equipment according to hygiene protocols.
\n\tMaintain laboratory instruments and notify management of calibration or servicing needs.
\n\tPerform all analyses in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Quality Assurance policies.
\n\tImplement corrective actions for quality and TAT deviations within area of responsibility.
\n\tMaintain acceptable proficiency scores for all assigned testing procedures.
\n\tMonitor and maintain appropriate stock levels for testing materials and consumables.
\n\tManage consumable costs effectively to support budget adherence.
\n\tComplete all reporting requirements accurately and on time.
\n\tReceive, review, and register incoming samples and inspection documentation on the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
\n\tPerform basic administrative duties and support testing processes as required.
\n\tCarry out additional duties as assigned within the scope of work.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
Qualifications<\/p>\n
\tNational Diploma or Degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or Food Technology.
\n\tAdditional certifications in ISO 17025, GLP, or SANAS-accredited microbiology courses (advantageous).<\/p>\n
Experience<\/p>\n
\tMinimum 2 years\u2019 experience in a microbiology laboratory, preferably in food safety testing.
\n\tExperience with LIMS and sample registration processes (advantageous).
\n\tProven track record of working within ISO 17025 accredited environments.<\/p>\n
