PURPOSE OF THE POSITION<\/p>\n
\tJunior Lecturer\/Lecturer in the School of Industrial Engineering, Centre for Sustainable Mining will be responsible for undergraduate teaching and learning, research, as well as postgraduate student supervision.<\/p>\n
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n
Teaching and Learning<\/p>\n
\tDevelop coursework and present PGDip in IE with sustainability, and sustainable mining modules.<\/p>\n
Leadership, management and service to NWU<\/p>\n
\tProvide service to the NWU by contributing to the achievement of goals.<\/p>\n
Administration<\/p>\n
\tBe willing to undergo, attend and complete training successfully.<\/p>\n
Minimum requirements<\/p>\n
\tA minimum of two (2) years of evidence of independent research or industry experience.<\/p>\n
In addition to the above,<\/p>\n
JUNIOR LECTURER:<\/p>\n
\tA B. Eng degree or equivalent in relevant discipline (NQF level 8).<\/p>\n
LECTURER:<\/p>\n
\tAn M. Eng degree in a relevant discipline (NQF level 9).
\n\tA minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience.<\/p>\n
ADDED ADVANTAGE & PREFERENCE:<\/p>\n
\tRegistered with ECSA.
\n\tMembership of appropriate academic and professional networks.
\n\tA minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience –\u00a0Junior Lecturer.<\/p>\n
KEY FUNCTIONAL\/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:<\/p>\n
Must be proficient in the following:<\/p>\n
\tComputer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), email, and internet.
\n\tKnowledge of the appropriate assessment theory and practice to enhance student performance.
\n\tResearch methodology and technical writing.
\n\tA proven commitment to teaching and learning, including a willingness to become involved in students\u2019 educational\u00a0development and wellbeing.
\n\tKnowledge of modern platforms (e.g., whiteboard technology, eFundi, etc.) to enhance the ongoing changes of the\u00a0learning and collaboration environment.
\n\tEffective time-management skills.
\n\tEffective communication skills.
\n\tGood interpersonal relations and a client-service orientation.
\n\tDemonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various functionally multilingual environments of the NWU.
\n\tThe ability to function well individually and as part of a team\/subject group.
\n\tGood analytical abilities and innovative thinking, as well as the ability to be self-driven.
\n\tThe ability to solve problems independently.
\n\tGood planning and organising skills, as well as good report writing skills.
\n\tHigh level of professional and ethical conduct.<\/p>\n
