\nHigh level objectives<\/p>\n
\tImplementation of analytical techniques for the analysis of pesticide residues in agricultural products and the accompanying interpretation and evaluation of results.
\n\tSANAS approved Technical Signatory to authorize the release of GC-MS\/MS test results.
\n\tCoordinating the activities of the laboratory analysts, technicians and interns and optimizing the use of the equipment in the preparative section of the laboratory.
\n\tEnsure service delivery to the customers- reporting of results within the documented turnaround time.
\n\tMethod validation – addition of new matrices and\/or parameters.
\n\tSelf-management.
\n\tMinimize financial risks.
\n\tImplementation of QMS (ISO17025).
\n\tCommunication and reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
\n\tSelf-management.
\n\tMinimise financial risk.
\n\tManagement of critical consumables.<\/p>\n
Job Requirements<\/p>\n
Qualification required<\/p>\n
\tMinimum qualification of a B. Tech \/ BSc Degree in Chemistry or equivalent<\/p>\n
Experience Required<\/p>\n
\tAt least 5 years of relevant experience working as a Laboratory Analyst (or similar position) in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.
\n\tImplementation of accredited methods, increasing the scope of accreditation and a particular understanding of the technical processes of GC-MS\/MS instruments
\n\tInterpretation and evaluation of test results.
\n\tTrouble shooting of GC-MS\/MS and other relevant equipment
\n\tMethod validation and creation of validation reports according to EURACHEM regulations.
\n\tInternal auditing of the Quality Management System (QMS) according to ISO 17025
\n\tPerformance management and review of personnel<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tSetting up and supervision of the Pesticide Laboratory (GC-MS\/MS)
\n\tCompliance to statutory requirements
\n\tCoordinates the work of laboratory analysts, technicians and interns
\n\tEvaluation and Interpretation of results
\n\tEnsure results are sent to customer in a timely manner within the documented turn-around time
\n\tEnsure compliance to statutory methodology and Laboratory Quality management system, ISO 17025 procedures and SOP\u2019s
\n\tOversee the method validation and creation of validation reports according to EURACHEM regulations.
\n\tEnsure that any changes are made to the methods if necessary
\n\tEnsure equipment maintenance and calibration
\n\tParticipate in proficiency testing, analyze data and submits results
\n\tPerforms Internal Verification of Equipment
\n\tEnsures that the accommodation and environmental conditions of the lab is controlled and records accordingly.
\n\tPopulate and monitor QC charts
\n\tChecking quality and suitability of chemicals
\n\tParticipate in meetings with the Department of Agriculture
\n\tParticipate in meeting with internal and external stakeholders
\n\tParticipate in meetings with clients
\n\tAdvise the Laboratory management on achievements and shortcomings of Lab QMS (ISO 17025)
\n\tEffective communication and reporting that leads to improved internal relationships and decisions
\n\tProvide training to Laboratory Analyst and Technicians
\n\tPerform competency evaluations of Laboratory Analysts and Technicians
\n\tMentoring and coaching of Laboratory Analysts and Technicians
\n\tManage the annual performance motivation agreements of Laboratory Analysts and Technicians
\n\tAttend to and resolve customer complaints
\n\tConformance to financial and control policies<\/p>\n
Knowledge Required<\/p>\n
\tIn depth knowledge of ISO 17025 and SANAS requirements
\n\tImplementation of the LIMS for traceability.
\n\tImplementation of gas chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques, and the accompanying interpretation and evaluation of results
\n\tApplication of EURACHEM guidelines for method validation and uncertainty of measurement
\n\tApplication of SANTE guidance documents for the method validation of pesticide residue analysis
\n\tKnowledge and understanding of local and international standards and regulations<\/p>\n
