Minimum Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s Degree (NQF 7) in Town\/Urban Planning or Spatial Planning.
\n\tMinimum of 5 years\u2019 experience in spatial or facilities planning, with exposure to project management.
\n\tRegistration with the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN).
\n\tValid Driver\u2019s License (for site and campus visits).<\/p>\n
Key responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tDevelop and maintain DUT\u2019s Campus Master Spatial Plan in alignment with DUT Strategy 2030.
\n\tUndertake spatial planning studies to inform campus growth, development, and renewal.
\n\tAlign infrastructure development with campus spatial planning principles.
\n\tWork with Facilities Management to integrate master planning into capital projects.
\n\tDevelop planning guidelines for new buildings, refurbishments, and outdoor spaces.
\n\tUndertake research on urban planning, higher education facilities, and sustainability trends.
\n\tMaintain databases and GIS systems to support campus planning decisions.
\n\tEnsure compliance with municipal by-laws, zoning, environmental, and national planning legislation.
\n\tProvide specialist planning input into infrastructure and real estate projects.
\n\tSupport the Director in preparing budgets, proposals, and reports for projects.
\n\tAssist with monitoring resource utilisation in planning projects.
\n\tEngage with faculties, departments, and student bodies to align planning with institutional needs.
\n\tLiaise with external stakeholders, including municipalities, provincial government, and regulators.
\n\tIntegrate sustainability, energy efficiency, and green building principles into planning.
\n\tPromote climate-resilient and environmentally responsible campus design.
\n\tExplore innovative approaches to student housing, mobility, and shared spaces.
\n\tMaintain planning records, databases, and archives.
\n\tPrepare regular reports for governance and management committees.
\n\tSupervise the team ensuring effective delivery.<\/p>\n
