We are seeking an exceptionally motivated, qualified and ambitious aspirant South African academic to contribute to and expand the centre\u2019s research profile.<br \/>\n\tThe successful candidate will be expected to contribute meaningfully to existing research projects of the centre, and to conceptualise and lead new projects in\u00a0advanced learning technologies in the context of STEAM education.\u00a0\u00a0The appointment also includes administrative duties, teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate modules, and the supervision of postgraduate students.<\/p>\n<p>In particular, the incumbent will be expected to:<\/p>\n<p>\tRegister for the PhD degree, if not already held\u00a0and obtained a minimum of 70% in their Masters.<br \/>\n\tEstablish a research niche in the centre and participate in research activities leading to publication of articles in internationally peer-reviewed\/accredited journals.<br \/>\n\tBe actively involved in the community engagement activities of the centre.<br \/>\n\tSupervise postgraduate students.<br \/>\n\tObtain research funding from external funding bodies, national and international funding agencies, and industry.<br \/>\n\tPrepare and deliver lectures for undergraduate and postgraduate students.<br \/>\n\tPrepare\/design and mark assignments, tests, and exams.<br \/>\n\tBe prepared to travel between campuses should the need arise.<br \/>\n\tAttend centre, departmental and faculty meetings.<br \/>\n\tDrive the Global Excellence and Stature (GES) objectives of the University of Johannesburg.<\/p>\n<p>Minimum requirements<\/p>\n<p>\tA Master\u2019s qualification related to any discipline\/s of STEAM or STEAM education with an average pass mark of 70%.<br \/>\n\tA candidate with a PhD in the required field\u00a0must have obtained a minimum of 70% in their Masters.<br \/>\n\tExcellent skills in one or more advanced learning technologies (virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and robotics and coding).<br \/>\n\tExcellent verbal and written communication skills in English.<\/p>\n<p>Competencies and Behavioural Attributes:<\/p>\n<p>\tExcellent written and verbal English communication skills.<br \/>\n\tGood planning and organizational skills.<br \/>\n\tAbility to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.<br \/>\n\tAbility to self-manage own research group.<br \/>\n\tStrong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues.<br \/>\n\tEvidence of professional development.<br \/>\n\tEvidence of relevant research capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Recommendations:<\/p>\n<p>\tHolding a PhD or a PhD candidate.<br \/>\n\tResearch track record in\u00a0advanced learning technologies in STEAM education.<br \/>\n\tPublished articles in accredited journals.<br \/>\n\tTeaching experience.<br \/>\n\tA track record of post-graduate research supervision.<br \/>\n\tDemonstrated ability\/experience to work with a multidisciplinary team.<\/p>\n<p>Apply by:\u00a028 September 2025<\/p>\n<p>go to method of application \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Apply via company website ( http:\/\/www.uj.ac.za ) or<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_promoted":"","_job_location":"","_application":"","_company_name":"University of Johannesburg","_company_website":"http:\/\/www.uj.ac.za","_company_tagline":"Vibrant, multicultural and dynamic, the University of Johannesburg (UJ) shares the pace and energy of cosmopolitan Johannesburg, the city whose name it carries.
