\tThe purpose of the role is to design, implement and monitor the effectiveness of end-to-end strategies across Credit Risk Acquisitions, Pricing and Profitability for the Personal Loans portfolio.
\n\tThis includes optimizing underwriting and affordability assessment frameworks, driving sustainable growth within the portfolio\u2019s risk appetite, and shaping pricing strategy to ensure portfolio profitability while balancing customer affordability and risk.<\/p>\n

Key Accountabilities<\/p>\n
Monitor and Report on Acquisitions Risk Performance<\/p>\n
\tMonitor production levels, customer mix, and early delinquency\/risk trends.
\n\tTrack acquisition performance against portfolio risk appetite and profitability targets.
\n\tProvide insight to senior leadership on growth vs. risk trade-offs.<\/p>\n
Policy, Affordability & Underwriting Rules<\/p>\n
\tMaintain and enhance policy and affordability rules in line with regulatory requirements and business risk appetite.
\n\tRegularly review and refine rules to balance approval rates, customer affordability, and portfolio quality.
\n\tEnsure alignment of credit policy across acquisition channels.<\/p>\n
Pricing & Profitability<\/p>\n
\tDevelop and implement risk-based pricing frameworks for Personal Loans.
\n\tMonitor and adjust pricing strategies to optimize risk-adjusted returns, considering funding costs, operational expenses, and expected credit losses.
\n\tConduct profitability analyses and recommend portfolio pricing adjustments to ensure competitive positioning and sustainable growth.<\/p>\n
Strategy Development & Implementation<\/p>\n
\tLead the design of end-to-end acquisitions and pricing strategies that drive profitable growth.
\n\tUse predictive analytics, segmentation models, and customer insights to refine strategies.
\n\tPartner with Finance, Product, and Distribution to align strategy with business growth objectives.<\/p>\n
People Management<\/p>\n
\tLead and develop a team of analysts\/managers to deliver on acquisitions and pricing strategies.
\n\tEnsure performance development plans are aligned to business objectives.
\n\tBuild and maintain a high-performance culture through coaching, recognition, and development.
\n\tRecruit, retain, and manage top talent with the support of HR.<\/p>\n
Education & Experience<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, or equivalent (NQF level 7).
\n\tMinimum 5 years\u2019 experience in Credit Risk within Retail Banking, with specific exposure to acquisitions and\/or pricing.
\n\tProficiency in SAS and advanced Excel.
\n\tKnowledge & Skills
\n\tCredit Risk modelling and analytics.
\n\tUnderwriting strategy and affordability assessment.
\n\tPricing methodologies, Net Interest Margin, and risk-adjusted return measures.
\n\tStrong statistical, quantitative, and analytical skills.
\n\tCustomer analytics and segmentation models.
\n\tUnderstanding of financial accounting, cost allocation and profitability drivers.
\n\tStrong communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
\n\tLeadership, team management and project management capabilities.<\/p>\n
