JG Afrika is looking for an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer for a roads project in North West Province. This is a contract position starting in January 2026 that will run for approximately 18 months.<\/p>\n
Duties and Responsibilities:
\nKey Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tPerform construction administration duties on site.
\n\tEnsure compliance with ISO 9001\/2015 QMS System.
\n\tEnsure client standards are achieved and maintained.
\n\tSite supervision of construction activities as directed by the Resident Engineer.
\n\tKeep a daily site diary.
\n\tMaintain records relating to Contractor\u2019s safety on site.
\n\tEnsure traffic accommodation is up to standard and maintain records.
\n\tMeasure quantities and assist with payment certificate preparation.
\n\tReport daily to the RE on project implementation activities and undertake other tasks as directed by the RE.
\n\tAssist the Senior Materials Technician with quality control and as-built records.
\n\tAttend site meetings with the Contractor and Client and assist the RE in compiling minutes.<\/p>\n
Qualifications:<\/p>\n
\tMust have a minimum of a BSc \/ BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering.
\n\tMust be professionally registered with ECSA as a PR Eng \/ Pr Tech Eng or be a Cand Pr Eng\/ Cand Pr Tech Eng who is close to registering.
\n\tMust have a valid driver\u2019s license and own vehicle.<\/p>\n
Experience:<\/p>\n
\tMust have at least 7 years post qualification experience on road periodic \/ special maintenance projects, road rehabilitation projects or new roads projects.
\n\tExperience with Asphalt overlays is essential. Please include this information in your CV.
\n\tMust have a good understanding of FIDIC Conditions of Contract and COTO specifications.<\/p>\n

\tStrong technical knowledge of road construction and rehabilitation methods.
\n\tProficient in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.

\n\tCompetent in using construction management and documentation tools.
