PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:<\/p>\n
\tSenior lecturer.<\/p>\n
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n
Teaching and Learning:<\/p>\n
\tTeach advanced level courses to a diverse student body, including skills as well as specialty courses in development communication OR corporate communication.
\n\tTeach general communication courses.
\n\tBring enthusiasm and strong pedagogy to teaching; engage in a practical, hands-on program of teaching; and provide strong mentoring to students.
\n\tProvide curricular leadership in either the Development OR Corporate communication program.
\n\tEngage in Scholarly and subject-related case studies.
\n\tProvide service to the Institution.
\n\tProvide service to the Community.
\n\tAdvise students.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Curriculum development:<\/p>\n
\tContribute to curricular revision to reflect the latest trends in the field, and to build and expand the development OR corporate communication subject group across all campuses.<\/p>\n
Scholarly work:<\/p>\n
\tWell-established publication record and clear evidence of an agenda for continued research in the field of development OR corporate communication
\n\tParticipation in research projects with colleagues in the form of engaged research and or social responsiveness<\/p>\n
Study guidance:<\/p>\n
\tProvide study guidance to graduate students on an honours, Masters and Doctorate level.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Administration and other tasks:<\/p>\n
\tResponsible for all administrative tasks with regard to the above.
\n\tStudy guide development and update.
\n\tStudent marks and assessment.
\n\tShare responsibility for committee and department assignments as required.
\n\tContribute to the Faculty Committees as well as University Committees.
\n\tContribute to the Faculty\u2019s strategic plan
\n\tParticipate in services related to the operations of the School.<\/p>\n
Minimum requirements<\/p>\n
\tA PhD (NQF level 10) in Communication with Corporate Communication or Development Communication as areas of specialisation.
\n\tA minimum of 5 years\u2019 learning experience in a higher education environment.
\n\tA minimum of 5 years\u2019 practical experience as a corporate or development communication specialist.
\n\tExperience in postgraduate supervision at Masters level and preferably PhD level.
\n\tPublications in academic journals.<\/p>\n
RECOMMENDATIONS \/ ADDED ADVANTAGES:<\/p>\n
\tMembership with professional bodies such as the South African Communications Association (SACOMM), Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA) or the Southern African Communications Industries Association (SACIA).<\/p>\n
KEY FUNCTIONAL\/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:<\/p>\n
\tKnowledge and skills within higher education.
\n\tKnowledge and skills within industry-related environments.
\n\tSound understanding of the development or corporate communication discipline.<\/p>\n
