THE JOB AT A GLANCE<\/p>\n
\tReporting to the Head of Financial & Regulatory Reporting, the Investment & Treasury Accountant will be responsible for the financial accounting function for RMA group relating to Investments & Treasury<\/p>\n
WHAT WILL YOU DO?<\/p>\n
\tIFRS Compliance
\n\tEnsure that all financial information is reported in accordance with IFRS\/Insurance Act and General Accepted Accounted Practices.
\n\tEnsure that investment Income, Expenses, Assets and Liabilities are reported in terms of IFRS.
\n\tEnsure management accounts are prepared in accordance with IFRS and Group requirements.<\/p>\n
Investment Analysis & Reporting<\/p>\n
\tResponsible for the accounting function for the investments
\n\tPrepare Investment financial accounts for EXCO so as to support the financial decision-making process
\n\tMake necessary improvements on all Reporting ensuring EXCO\/Board Sub-Committees are fully informed
\n\tAssist with the preparation of budgets.
\n\tAssist with the review of invoices
\n\tResponsible for the analysis of investment returns.
\n\tAssist with fund allocation splits for tax.
\n\tCashflow preparation & analysis.<\/p>\n
Process Automation and Data Integrity<\/p>\n
\tContinuously develop and streamline process automation within the finance operational areas
\n\tReview all systems procedures and controls and make necessary improvements where appropriate
\n\tEnsure data integrity of information within financial reporting systems<\/p>\n
Governance and Controls<\/p>\n
\tEstablish and continuously maintain accounting policies and procedures
\n\tEnsure all internal controls for Financial systems and reporting is adequate
\n\tFormulate and maintain group accounting and financial practices and ensure compliance of all subsidiaries in this regard
\n\tResponsible for the controls and documentation relating to income and expenditure
\n\tEnsure continuous governance and controls in relation to financial information
\n\tEnsure financial reporting system control and integration with existing and developmental platforms<\/p>\n
Treasury & Balance Sheet Management<\/p>\n
\tReconciliation of Investment balances.
\n\tManagement of solvency & liquidity.
\n\tManagement of funding & investments in line with Strategic Asset Allocation.
\n\tPreparation of investment & disinvestment documentation.<\/p>\n
Business Partnering<\/p>\n
\tStrategically partner with compliance, regulatory reporting & actuarial department.
\n\tSupport dividend payment process.
\n\tSupport & liaise with Investment Executive to execute strategic objectives.
\n\tAssist with cash functions to support business
\n\tPrepare investment reports to be integrated into the overall financial reporting framework.<\/p>\n
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE?<\/p>\n
\tMinimum of 4 years in a accounting role focusing on investments & treasury.
\n\tNQF Level 8: Honors degree in Financial management, Investment or Accounting. CIMA, CA or CFA preferable.
\n\tKnowledge of investment management, cash & bank, liquidity & solvency business policies & general accounting standards.
\n\tBackground knowledge of financial sector and life insurance industry
\n\tAbove average IT skills.
\n\tKnowledge of investment, bond & capital markets.<\/p>\n
