PURPOSE<\/p>\n
\tAn exciting opportunity exists within Fraser Alexander Africa to review and improve work environments, design programs to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses, and ensure compliance with SHEQ standards.
\n\tThe role includes conducting inspections and enforcing health and safety regulations across all countries where we operate.<\/p>\n
RESPONSIBILITIES<\/p>\n
Strategic Leadership<\/p>\n
\tDrive the strategic direction and continuous improvement of the divisional SHEQ management programme.
\n\tDevelop, implement, and report on the annual SHEQ plan in line with divisional and group objectives.<\/p>\n
Compliance and Risk Management<\/p>\n
\tEstablish and maintain SHEQ standards, policies, and procedures to meet internal, client, and legal requirements.
\n\tOversee incident investigations, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
\n\tKeep up to date with SHEQ legislation and ensure compliance across all operations.<\/p>\n
Training and Development<\/p>\n
\tManage SHEQ training, awareness, and compliance initiatives across the division.
\n\tEnsure retention of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 accreditations and support new certification initiatives.
\n\tPromote best practices and continuous learning within the SHEQ team.<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Management<\/p>\n
\tAdvise senior management on SHEQ legislation, best practices, and performance trends.
\n\tFoster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and external service providers.
\n\tAct as an information conduit to communicate safety matters to staff, contractors, and stakeholders.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s Degree in Safety Management or equivalent.
\n\tCompleted a course in industrial hygiene, safety technology, and hazardous materials management.
\n\tRegistration with SACPCMP or other relevant institutions.<\/p>\n
EXPERIENCE<\/p>\n
\tAt least 8 years of industry-related experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a management role.
\n\tAt least 5 years of experience holding a relevant legal appointment under the MHSA.
\n\tAn established safety network with key stakeholders in the mining industry.<\/p>\n
SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED<\/p>\n
\tMust be in possession of a valid driver\u2019s license.
\n\tMust be medically fit as per company standards.
\n\tMust be able to obtain a valid passport and work permits\/visas to meet travel requirements.
\n\tStrong leadership acumen.
\n\tThorough understanding of legislation and codes of practice related to SHEQ.
\n\tStrong data analytics skills in SHEQ management.<\/p>\n
