\tRPO Recruitment\u2019s client, a well-established civil engineering consulting firm in South Africa is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Resident Engineer to join their dynamic team in Johannesburg as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tOverseeing on-site project execution to ensure alignment with quality standards, timelines, and budget constraints, in accordance with approved construction drawings, schedules, and specifications
\n\tActing as the primary on-site liaison to resolve issues between the Client, Office Team, and Contractor
\n\tCreating and implementing a comprehensive communication strategy for effective engagement with Project Stakeholders
\n\tManaging project documentation, including meeting minutes, correspondence, file organization, and overseeing site office accounting operations
\n\tEvaluating contractor claims, offering technical assessments, advising the Client, and influencing contractor performance to meet cost, schedule, and quality targets
\n\tCoordinating and supervising the coaching, mentoring, and development of junior site personnel
\n\tEnsuring clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders, while facilitating productive team and client meetings
\n\tProviding oversight and coordination for Quality Assurance processes
\n\tEnsuring compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements
\n\tPromoting and enforcing health, safety, and environmental standards on-site
\n\tMonitoring supply chain compliance related to procurement and management of service providers, subconsultants, and technical specialists
\n\tPreparing cost estimates and compiling tender documents for civil engineering projects
\n\tAssessing and valuing Interim Payment Certificates
\n\tReviewing and adjudicating Contractor claims related to Extensions of Time<\/p>\n
Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tBEng\/BSc\/BTech degree in Civil Engineering (essential)
\n\tRegistered as a Professional Engineer or Technologist with ECSA advantageous
\n\tMinimum 7 years\u2019 relevant experience in the site supervision of civil engineering and construction projects
\n\tThorough working knowledge of specifications and Bill of Quantities (COLTO \/ COTO, SANS 1200, project specific etc.) & Conditions of Contract (SAICE GCC, FIDIC, NEC)
\n\tProficient in MS Project and MS Office
\n\tGood verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
\n\tExcellent negotiation skills
\n\tAbility to work well within a team
\n\tAdaptable and resilient
\n\tGood reporting writing, planning and organisational skills<\/p>\n
