Description<\/p>\n
\tThis position exists to perform a technical and supervisory role on a tailings project, ensuring setting out of site, applying the relevant designs and plans, resources management, monitoring and reporting on progress of their section of the project against plan, as well as liaising with sub-contractors<\/p>\n
RESPONSIBILITIES<\/p>\n
Business\/Function\u00a0Management<\/p>\n
\tEnsure\u00a0operational\u00a0execution\u00a0in\u00a0their\u00a0section\u00a0aligns\u00a0to\u00a0organisational\u00a0directives,\u00a0as\u00a0provided by senior superintendent
\n\tEnsure\u00a0compliance and adherence to policies, procedures, practices and legislative requirements for\u00a0their\u00a0section,\u00a0identify gaps, propose improvements and implement approved changes as required<\/p>\n
Financial, Commercial & Contract Management<\/p>\n
\tMonitor\u00a0and\u00a0control\u00a0the\u00a0cost\u00a0of\u00a0materials\u00a0and\u00a0equipment, recommend and\u00a0implement\u00a0cost-effective\u00a0solutions\u00a0and\u00a0proposals for the intended project
\n\tOrder\u00a0materials and\u00a0following\u00a0up on orders so that no delays are incurred because of material delays
\n\tManage daily\u00a0costing\u00a0and feeds budget vs cost variances to site administrator and senior superintendent daily<\/p>\n
Risk Management & Compliance, Including ESG responsibility<\/p>\n
\tEnsure all financial, technical, and\u00a0operational risks\u00a0and\u00a0opportunities\u00a0within\u00a0to their\u00a0area\u00a0of\u00a0responsibility\u00a0are\u00a0identified\u00a0, with appropriate\u00a0 mitigation actions\u00a0implemented\u00a0and\u00a0monitored. Align relevant stakeholders accordingly and escalate risks as necessary.
\n\tEnsure that items manufactured off-site meet all specifications and tracks the supplier\u2019s quality processes.<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Management (Internal\/External)<\/p>\n
\tEnsure professional interaction with client and stakeholders , at junior to middle management level
\n\tResponsible for\u00a0subcontractor operational performance , and to identify and escalate operational , productivity , labour and cost risks relating to subcontractor management<\/p>\n
Operations\u00a0&\u00a0Project\u00a0Management<\/p>\n
\tEnsure that\u00a0work\u00a0is\u00a0executed\u00a0on\u00a0time\u00a0,\u00a0in\u00a0full,\u00a0to\u00a0standard,\u00a0and\u00a0first\u00a0time\u00a0right\u00a0,\u00a0in\u00a0support\u00a0of operational goals and targets for their section; maintain records on production outputs and generate reports , charts , and graphs
\n\tOversee the\u00a0selection,\u00a0requisition, scheduling ,\u00a0and\u00a0preparation\u00a0of\u00a0materials\u00a0and\u00a0plant\u00a0for\u00a0tailings work; ensure materials used align with specifications and assist with material usage control<\/p>\n
Management Operating System & Reporting<\/p>\n
\tPut\u00a0appropriate controls\u00a0in\u00a0place\u00a0at\u00a0point\u00a0execution to inform management information and enable immediate corrective action when there are deviations from the plan
\n\tEnsure\u00a0all\u00a0relevant data\u00a0is\u00a0collected\u00a0accurately\u00a0and\u00a0on\u00a0time\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0point\u00a0of\u00a0execution\u00a0,\u00a0and shared with relevant stakeholders in the required format, including cost, productivity , quality , safety , and health data ensuring full compliance<\/p>\n
Technical\u00a0Management\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tResponsible\u00a0for\u00a0setting\u00a0and\u00a0adherence\u00a0to\u00a0technical\u00a0standards\u00a0and work\u00a0methods,\u00a0for\u00a0their\u00a0section,\u00a0in\u00a0accordance\u00a0with\u00a0organisational and\u00a0client requirements, policies, procedures and legislation<\/p>\n
SHEQ Management<\/p>\n
\tRegularly check materials ensuring they are according to specifications, drawings and site instructions<\/p>\n
Staff Management<\/p>\n
\tEnsure that\u00a0labourers\u00a0on\u00a0site\u00a0are\u00a0kept\u00a0informed\u00a0of\u00a0any\u00a0issues\u00a0that\u00a0may\u00a0concern\u00a0them\u00a0e.g.\u00a0retrenchments, paid\/unpaid public holidays, transport etc. by attending regular meetings with labour preventatives\u2019 etc.<\/p>\n

QUALIFICATIONS<\/p>\n
\tNational\u00a0Diploma\u00a0in Civil or Mining\/Metallurgical, Industrial Engineering or B Tech in Civil or Mining Engineering\u00a0
\n\tBSc Degree in Civil or Mining\/ Metallurgical Engineering\u00a0<\/p>\n
EXPERIENCE<\/p>\n
\t2 to 3 years\u2019 experience working in a tailing’s environment
\n\tAt least 1-2\u00a0years\u00a0in\u00a0a\u00a0supervisory capacity preferable, or the monitoring and controlling of production activities<\/p>\n
SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED<\/p>\n
\tSoliday understanding of the mining and mining production industry with specific emphasis on tailings business
\n\tKnowledge and\u00a0understanding of technical and operational aspects\u00a0core\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0tailings\u00a0industry\u00a0
\n\tSolid knowledge\u00a0of\u00a0methods\u00a0and\u00a0practises\u00a0of\u00a0deposition\/remining\u00a0\/water\u00a0\/load\u00a0&\u00a0haul\u00a0
