Job Purpose:<\/p>\n
\tTo design, develop and maintain robust, scalable and secure data engineering solutions across the full data lifecycle, from data ingestion and transformation to warehousing and integration.<\/p>\n
REQUIREMENTS
\nMinimum education (essential):<\/p>\n
\tBSc in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field\u00a0<\/p>\n
Minimum applicable experience (years):<\/p>\n
\t2-4 years<\/p>\n
Required nature of experience:<\/p>\n
\tExperience with SQL Server and Azure Synapse Analytics\/Microsoft Fabric for query writing, indexing, performance tuning and schema design.
\n\tHands-on experience developing ETL pipelines, including data extraction from REST\/SOAP APIs, databases and flat files.
\n\tProficiency in data transformation using Python and Azure-native tools.
\n\tExperience with data warehousing.
\n\tBackground in data modelling, including dimensional modelling, schema evolution and versioning.
\n\tPractical knowledge of cloud-based data storage and processing using Azure Blob Storage.
\n\tFamiliarity with pipeline optimisation, fault tolerance, monitoring and security best practices.
\n\tExperience developing web applications using C# and the .NET platform.
\n\tExperience with front-end development using Blazor, React.js, JavaScript\/TypeScript, HTML, CSS\/SCSS.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\tDesign, build, and orchestrate efficient ETL pipelines using Azure Synapse for both batch and near-real-time data ingestion.
\n\tExtract data from a variety of structured and unstructured sources including REST APIs, SOAP APIs, databases, and flat files.
\n\tApply robust data transformation logic using Python and native Azure Synapse transformation tools.
\n\tOptimise data flows for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
\n\tImplement retry mechanisms, logging and monitoring within pipelines to ensure data integrity and fault tolerance.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Data Architecture and Management<\/p>\n
\tDesign and manage scalable and efficient data architectures using Microsoft SQL Server and Azure services, including Synapse Analytics\/Microsoft Fabric and Blob Storage.
\n\tDevelop robust schema designs, indexes and query strategies to support analytical and operational workloads.
\n\tSupport schema evolution and version control, ensuring long-term maintainability and consistency across datasets.
\n\tImplement and maintain metadata repositories and data dictionaries for improved data governance and transparency.
\n\tDefine and maintain role-based access control to ensure data security and compliance.<\/p>\n
Data Warehousing and BI Integration<\/p>\n
\tArchitect and manage enterprise data warehouses using Azure Synapse Analytics.
\n\tApply best practices for data loading, partitioning strategies, and storage optimisation.
\n\tIntegrate warehousing solutions with Power BI and other analytics platforms for seamless business intelligence consumption.<\/p>\n
Data Modelling & Standards<\/p>\n
\tDevelop and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models.
\n\tImplement dimensional modelling techniques (e.g., star\/snowflake schemas) to support advanced analytics and reporting.
\n\tApply normalisation standards and relational modelling techniques to support OLTP and OLAP workloads.
\n\tEnsure consistency of data models across systems and support schema versioning and evolution.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Reporting and Communication<\/p>\n
\tProvide clear, timely updates on task status and progress to senior developers \/ management.
\n\tContribute to reports, manuals, and other documentation related to software status, operation, and maintenance.
\n\tCollaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders using the appropriate communication channels.
\n\tMaintain system and product change logs and release notes according to company standards.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Automation, Monitoring and Optimisation<\/p>\n
\tAutomate recurring data engineering tasks and deploy solutions with CI\/CD best practices.
\n\tImplement monitoring and alerting mechanisms to detect data quality issues and pipeline failures.
\n\tAnalyse and optimise query performance across platforms (SQL Server, Azure Synapse).
\n\tSupport scalability planning and cost control by monitoring pipeline execution and resource usage<\/p>\n
Security and Best Practices<\/p>\n
\tEnforce security best practices for data access, including encryption and secure authentication.
\n\tEnsure compliance with data governance policies and applicable regulatory standards.
\n\tDocument processes, architectural decisions and technical implementations in alignment with organisational standards<\/p>\n

\tCollaborate with developers, data analysts, data scientists and business teams to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
