Role Purpose\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tThe Systems Administrator ensures the stability, security, and efficiency of the company\u2019s IT infrastructure. This role manages servers, networks, storage, endpoints, and business-critical applications, acting as the technical backbone of the IT department. \u00a0Working closely with managed service providers (MSPs), the Systems Administrator ensures business continuity across all locations.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tInfrastructure Management \u2013 Dell servers, Windows Server 2022, VMware, Hyper-V, Synology NAS.
\n\tBackup & Recovery \u2013 Veeam, patching, DR planning.
\n\tNetwork & Security \u2013 Meraki firewalls, HP InstantOn switches, Cambium Wi-Fi, VPNs, SOC & SIEM alerts, Datto EDR.
\n\tEndpoint & Device Management \u2013 PCs\/laptops, Epson\/Zebra\/Lexmark\/HP printers, barcode scanners, Sunmi & Zebra Android devices, POS peripherals.
\n\tCloud & Collaboration \u2013 Microsoft 365 administration (Azure AD, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Power Platform).
\n\tMonitoring & Continuity \u2013 ERP, POS, ecommerce, and finance systems uptime.
\n\tDocumentation & Governance \u2013 ITGlue, SharePoint, compliance support.
\n\tSupport Coverage & Travel Requirement
\n\tStandby support: Participation in a scheduled standby roster for evenings and weekends.
\n\tMandatory Saturdays: Two Saturdays per month (8:00am \u2013 2:00pm, onsite) scheduled in advance by the Head of IT.
\n\tTravel: Required to travel to stores and offices within South Africa and neighbouring countries to provide onsite IT support, project implementations, and system upgrades.
\n\tThese requirements are part of the role\u2019s standard duties and are not eligible for overtime or additional allowance. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Skills & Qualifications<\/p>\n
\t5+ years in Systems Administration or IT Infrastructure.
\n\tStrong knowledge: Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure AD, VMware\/Hyper-V.
\n\tNetworking fundamentals (Meraki\/HP switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi).
\n\tVeeam backup, endpoint and device support experience.
\n\tFamiliarity with SOC\/SIEM tools and IT security principles.
\n\tExcellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
\n\tWillingness to travel regularly for store\/site support.<\/p>\n
